The line up is Shaping up real well! I cant wait till September!!!! and what a surprise PC69 is huh?

To be honest, this lineup is weak compared to PPII, IV and V to me, but it's still not bad. The opener, Manticora sounds very promising. PC69 is quite good as well. I haven't heard the band from the "magic slot" which is Friday #3 slot (filled by Angel Dust in PPII, Edguy PPIII, Vanden Plas IV and Tad Morose V) to be filled by Orphaned Land, but from my understanding they are a progressive band with death style vocals on the order of Opeth. I'm not big on death vocals at all (though I can handle the higher range death vocals like COB,) but if they are comparable to Opeth, I will like them. Opeth is a machine musically.

Man it doesnt even Compare to the Line up Last year but I am getting excited none the less ... I havnt heard PC69 only heard about them ... and what I have heard of Orphaned land isnt bad they dont really seem to throw the death vox in there to much but they are quite proggy ... if ya want I will send you the disc I have of them! ... I havnt Heard any of the other bands besids Therion ... and The closest I have come to Hearing Strato was when Timo Did those songs with Edguy last year ... Opeth is pretty good I have heard a few of there older albums Musiclly they are spot on!

Oh then Orphaned Land uses traditional vocals too ? Mercenary (Prog Power IV) is like that as well. They use both traditional (I stay away from the word "clean" because I think of clea as using no rasp like Steve Perry or something) and death vocals.
I am getting excited too. I have heard a FEW PC69 songs and they were decent. David Readman (PC69 vocalist) sang on a project release which featured guys from Vanden Plas as well as DC Cooper and one of the songs he sang, though a ballad, was fantastic on that disc.

Yeah From the tracks I have heard They predominatly use the Traditional Vox I think more so then Mercenary ... I am going to have to Hear some PC69... both bands have some pretty big shoes to fill :) its gonna be a blast!!!! who do you think glenns got lined up for the other 4 slots? or should I say who would you like to see in those spots?

:ill: so far the lineup is VERY weak... at least for my taste. Never liked Strato, don't like Orphaned Land and don't like PC69...the others I have not heard yet.
 Doesn't look promising for me, unless they bring somebody like Masterplan and Symphorce along, hence I prefer to do a few Ozzfests if the rumors are true that the mightly Maiden will play it.

No doubt about big shoes to fill, but every year I have been at least a couple of bands have slaughtered me. I think someone would have to put a gun to my head to try and convince me Urban Breed isn't the best frontman in the world, but there have been amazing performances every year I have attended.
I honestly couldn't guess who the other bands could be. I don't follow what bands are playing live on what particular dates and stuff like that. This isn't panning out (so far) to be the best of Glenn's work, but he has never disappointed me. I think if I learn these bands, it might already turn out to be a pretty awesome show.

HOT DAMN! Orphaned Land made the bill, by God. Their guitar player told me several months ago that if the planets and stars lined up just right, they could be invited. They were on the alternate list. I am so happy for those guys.

Orphaned Land - Mabool was my second favorite album of 2004 and I think it's one of the greatest musical creations ever made. I don't like death metal vocals either, Bryant, but I love Mabool. The growling is probably only in about 15% of the album and it's done about as tastefully as a you can. Fair warning though, if you don't like a wide variety of musical forms in one album (and sometines within one song), it might not be for you. They feature everything from really heavy metal to middle-eastern pipes and chants. One song lasts four minutes and only has a girl chanting Indian-style. There is a good number of mellow interludes as well, using middle-eastern and asian acoustic string instruments.

I love versatility in my music so Orphaned Land is a godsend to me.

*Insert fainting smilie*
I was jumping and screaming like a school girl last night! :tickled:
NOW I am going to PP! See you there JD and Bryant...

Symphorce was an amazing announcement. Andy B Franck will be back in America! Thats so cool. Brainstorm kicked ass last year. I didn't go to ProgPower but I saw them at the BWBK 6 Pack Weekend 2 which I will be attending again this year. May have to now hit up ProgPower as well. Id go to PP for Strato alone but they are touring here too so I have to say that I would also relaly be looking foward to Manticora, Circus Maximus, and Pink Cream 69 along with Symphorce. Don't really know Orphaned Land or Therion. Hope they get Masterplan and Conception. I've really started liking Conception alot since I have heard PP fans buzz about them on the forums.

Or a submarine. Or really good scuba dive equipment...

You can just go East through Russia and walk acrross the Bering Straights into Alaska, then through Canada and all the way down to the SuthEast US. If you left now, you could make Prog Power VIII. Got some good snow boots I imagine living where you do. >:P~

I just Picked up the new Pink Cream 69 Thunderdome .. They seem like they will actually be a really good fit! They really arent that bad I dont think they will have the impact in the 3rd slot like TM or Brainstorm

They are a good band and Readman is a good singer, but from a power standpoint, how do you compete with bands like Tad Morose, Angel Dust (which I know you didn't see but they were comparable to BS and TM) and Brainstorm ?
