More folk/fantasy metal (one of my best mixes ever)

It's completely not my music, but the production is cool. One of the things I dig most in your mixes are the drums+bass fundament. They're sitting really well together imho.

@AStudio: Cheers! There's been no shortage of the hate locally! Actually really happy about it, as you know it's made an impression, haha.

@osum: I really appreciate you picking up on that. I usually spend a very long time locking the drums in with the bass. I learned through some of the best Staub and Bergstrand mixes that these are the cornerstone to a 'good' sounding mix, so without them sounding right there's no point pressing on.

Still waiting on the 'ok' for the band to let me showcase one of the thrashier numbers on my site.

You're totally within your rights to feel that way. There are obviously folks who disagree, and others who may agree. The first thing James Murphy said when shown the title track the other day was 'the keys sound well balanced with the mix' (in roughly those words). So I think one person's 'keys are drowning everything' are another's 'yeah, I can hear everything well'. Many criticized the Orpheus record for having the keys too buried - others for the exact opposite thing... so it's one of those situations where I'm content with the idea that you can't make everyone happy. The band, in this case, seemed very happy with the balances, so that's good enough for me!

Maybe it's also because I'm not really familiar with the folk/fantasy genre.
I just haven't come across that loud keys so far, so I guess it's perfectly normal for that kind of genre.
But yeah you can get very mixed opinons on balance/volume.

A lot nicer to listen to the mix on your site.
Totally dig the bass sound, good to hear on that song.

At the end it's as you said, if the band is happy then everyone else can fuck off ;)
