Here are three more clips.

all of them through Mesa/V30 1xsm57, no post EQ.
Emg Pickups

Highgain

Rock

this one might be kinda interesting since people keep saying that the Windsor doesn't clean up, has no dynamics.....I did NOT roll back the Volume Pot for this clip, I only controlled the distortion by picking harder/softer....no dynamics? not bad for an amp in that pricerange!

semi-clean

Nice tones dude. Any chance of a clip with a Duncan Custom or something similar?

Diggin' the high gain and rock tones. The cleaner clips is cool. I can't see why anyone would bitch about his head cleaning up at all...regardless of price range. It's JCM 800 based and those amps don't really clean up for squat anyway unless you are plugged into the low input using minimal gain.

The Plexis do a nice clean, but it is still very robust...not Fendery or anything.

I didn't realize they were that cheap...hmm...

I remember playing one in the store and I thought it sounded great, and this was through a Windsor cab...When I recorded this band in question with the Windsor, it was awful, awful tone. I've heard Behringer cabs in the past, but surely it wasn't the cabs fault it sounded as bad as it did?

IIRC, the Windsor I played at GC had a pretty good amount of gain...Funny to see this thread now, I just got done reading Sloan's Windsor thread yesterday.

lasse, how long have you had this amp? Did you get it from looking at Sloan's thread?

Dude, that could absolutely be the reason it sounded so shit. My buddy has a Behringer cab and it sucks in my opinion. Cabs are a gigantic part of tone in my eyes.

I've had cabs with the same speakers that are constructed so different that they sound drastically different. My Avatar 2x12 with a vintage 30 sounds so much worse than my Mesa.

that plus the bias.
peavy amps are biased colder than a witches cunt....I threw JJ in this one (instead of the Ruby in the Poweramp and EH in the preamp) ans biased it properly...did make a difference

That high gain tone is really close to the tone I was going for on my 80's metal song I posted here. Maybe I need to pickup one of these! Dang, it even cleans up nicely!

Nice tones, Lasse! Where's the bias adjust on this?

BTW, did you use an Overdrive pedal on the hi-gain take?
