multi-band comps on guitars

Hey all,

Just wondering what you guys have to say about different multiband compressors. I've recently started to use the sonalksis CQ1 and I think its superb - a lick of that on the low mids just gets my rhythms super tight. Still haven't been able to use a C4 but I've heard mainly good things.

Are there any other good MB comps out there that anyone could recommend before I upgrade to the full version of the sonalksis?

Precision multiband for UAD is fine although it has plenty of latency which is really annoying.
For guitars I don´t use MB. Sometimes the Waves C1 to tighten the lows a little bit but mainly I eq guitars not compress them (at least heavily distorted guitars).

Yeh agreed - I only use a multiband on heavier guitars, just seems to control the low mids really well.

I use the free multiband GranComp3 on guitars all the time, and during mastering too.

300-900hz range compressed slightly with about 4:1 ratio, medium attack, slow-ish release, not taking off much volume.
