I'm curious about how well the MIDI solution works. I'd like to use it for some cheap demo-level home recordings, so I could work with smaller interfaces. If it works, expect me to quiz you on it.

I messed around with the DM5 a little bit but still am having problems. I didn't have enough time to fully analyze it yet, but I will probably be able to mess with it more tonight...The snare and kick seemed to be on target but the toms were out of whack just a little. There are so many variables, too, like x-talk and velocity curve, and I need to test those things out as they may be part of the problem...it will take time!!...worst case, I think i'll be able to run the snare and kick through the dm5 which should free up another track...to be continued
