musicians...what is your practice regimen?

It doesn't really matter how long you practice, just that you're consistent. I've found that watching tv AND playing guitar helps tremendously. Seriously.

You're not focused on the guitar so you can just do runs and scales back and forth up and down the neck without even looking at it, and before you know it, an hour has gone by. I just watched Star Wars Attack of the Clones and played for about an hour just doing bullshit.

Two, maybe three times a week if i can. I work nights, so my sleeping pattern is all fucked up as well as everything else. Plus, my amp is in the garage cause it's the only place i can put it right now, so it's a bit of pain to just set everything up even.

I usually don't even use my amp unless I'm either jamming or rehearsing songs. Scratch that. Just rehearsing songs because jamming is boring.

First I stretch my forearms and massage my finger to get the blood flowing a little. I have a series of scales and arpeggios (alternate and sweep picked) and such that I practice to a metronome ( Mainly Petrucci and Vinnie Moore stuff). Usually I start off with some chromatic runs just to get warmed up. That's about an hours worth of stuff. Then I practice bending in tune for a bit. After that I just jam to whatever song I'm learning at the time. Lately I've been trying to get my legato in shape. It suffers big time.

back when I was an idiot and thought musicianship was a good thing.

Yeah, because to be honest, musicianship doesn't mean dick if you want to make it. You need either tits, bling, or look like you just woke up to make it in the music industry. Still can't get that whole indie scene. Let's all play our guitars really badly up around our necks and try to sound like an amalgam of the Stones, the Stooges, and The Who, while moving your body in a jerky, robotic manner. Yay indie rock.

........do you people that practice guitar for 5 hours a day have a job?

Yeah, but since I'm a teenager I only work three hours a day and jam the rest.

Even if I did, I still go to sleep and run fine off of six hours.
