my bands new demo

hey all

ive been browsing this forum for some time now and ive been trying to learn as much about production as i can, however i still have lots to learn of course

check a couple of songs from my band's latest demo and tell me what you think, the equipment i used was cakewalk home studio 2002, sm58 mic (yes i only had 1 mic to record drums with ), computer with soundblaster audigy2.

You're not off to a bad start, considering you were using a single SM58 for everything including the drums. Sounds pretty decent, but the vox seem a little loud to me.

I'm curious to know what sort of mic placement you were using on the drums considering you only had a 58?

we just placed it about half a metre away facing the middle of the toms. Then i applied some EQ to try and reduce the volume of the cymbols (which were much louder than they sound now).
