my bass sounds like shit, any tips!?

i kicked the kick intro out!:)

NEW TRY

i am satisfied with the sound so far, sounds much better than the first recording i made.
is it played tight enough this time!? :)

S.

PS: thanks for all your help guys!!!!:)

to get back to the strings question...

i used to play a pal's bass that had this "strange"
strings on it...liked the sound really but they were
really tight...exactly what i am searching for!

now i found out that these strings are calles FLATWOUND
strings and that they are used for JAZZ very often.

what about FLATWOUND strings!?
are they good for metal!?
how do they "sound" when the bass is distorted!?

cheers
S.

they sound like dead roundwounds. so if you like that sound, go for flats. otherwise, get rounds.

No. At least not if you are after a conventional hard rock or metal bass sound. Flats have a very dull top end, a somewhat muted attack and strong fundamental. Think 60's RnB. It's basically the antithesis of the metal bass sound b/c they completely lack the high end snap that defines each note in a typical modern tone.

A good set of steels (as others have said) is where it's at.
