My Familiar

not tonkinese, but we do have a few siamese crossed kitties round here and they are definitely loud needy little furry jerks.

but we wuv em d'awww

My last cat had the disposition of a Tonkinese. Would talk up a storm with anyone, had the biggest eyes ever and if you did not give her the attention she wanted, she would either plop down in front of where ever you were (usually in my case at my desk) and lay on her back with her paws to the side and go to sleep, or try to climb up on your shoulder and perch like a bird. She was also nearing eleven years when I had to give her up, and still played like she was only a year old.

I think Tonkinese are a mix between the Siamese and Burmese....I have 2 Siamese cats that are like family members and they are so cool! They are very demanding cats, they need to be involved in everything and they talk a lot - but their intense personalities make them very unique! One of them is a lynx-point male and he is a cuddler, always looking for a lap and he even sleeps in our bed under the covers with his head on the pillow. The other is a female seal-point and she is fiercely independent - she only does things on her terms and she is also nuts....she will run all over the place making noises and acting like she is chasing invisible creatures. They are both also very Zen - they can sit on their window perches for hours just staring out and not moving a muscle. Anything with Siamese bloodlines makes for a great, loyal pet.

well if you know what the mom is (even if you dont) and can observe colorings and eyes and head shape etc, you can determine whats in your 'mutt' kitty without too much difficulty
