My friend doesn't like VS because....

Oh great, now I've got to dig up that album. It's somewhere in the massive piles on my dresser. Man, it's been ages.

Anyway, Ansuz, I'd sing in German (hell, any language except Chinese or those African languages with the clicks!)... if I had a band.... and someone to write lyrics for me.

I could understand if it was because Vintersorg speaks Swedish in his songs because as a native English speaker it intimidated me a little at first before I got into it, but your friend doesn't like it because of the accent?

Completely ridiculous!

the first vintersorg album i bought was odemarkens son... i had no idea who vintersorg was, what type of music this was, but it was recommended to me by someone who knows i'm a rabid borknagar fan.
he didn't tell me it was in another language.
what a pleasant surprise, and i fell in love instantly. to this day i still have no idea what those words mean, but they're absolutely beautiful.
i cannot comprehend that one would discredit such talent... for distaste of an accent?!
i've always wondered, that of the music i love so much... how it is that others perceive it. but its comments like the aforementioned that make me rescind such statements, perhaps its really not worth knowing.

I would like to use to advantage and ask to the Swedish friends on this board: How is the correct way to pronounce "Thyrfing" ??

Will nobody answer my question  ???

I always spell it "Tyrfing".. but I'm no swedish... soooooo... cannot imagine that it's like "th" like in "thing", that sounds a bit too weird :D On the other hand... there are many old spellings that sound weird :D So, if any Swedish would kindly answer that, please!! :)

I'm not Swedish either, but I learned all my pronounciation from listening to Vintersorg (and Otyg). I'd pronounce it 'Thyr-fing'.
'yr' as in 'ear'.
and 'fing' sounds similar to 'thing'.

I put the accent on the first syllable, but I'm usually wrong about those things...
