My grind/death/crust/hardcore band (Real drums, 5150 etc)

Hi Guys! I´m currently working on a mix for a EP with my band "God Mother". I play the drums and also do the vocals. We are influenced by bands like Nasum, Nails, Afgrund, Gaza etc.

We recorded this very quickly in our rehersal room with just a Digi 003 rack. But I think it turned out pretty well.

Drums are: Tama Starclassic 100% birch.
Kick: beta 52:
Snare 2x sm57
Toms Audix D2
OH: Oktava 012
Rooms: Oktava 319

Guitars: Peavey 5150 and tubescreamer. To one 2x12 Orange V30 and one 4x12 Orange Gt12. Micked up with one sm 57 and one Audix i5.

Bass: Old peavey bass 400 thru Our bassplayers homebuild pedal to a 2x15 and micked with One Beta52 and a Audix D6. No Line signal were taken.

Vocals: Sm 57.

So this is how it sounds so far. Keep in mind that this is a pre-master! I would appreciate any comments of what you guys think about it!

Sounds huge!!! Kinda of black metal vibe too - I like it alot. Looking forward to the rest of the EP.
What settings did you use on the 5150?
A lot of the bands you listed as influences use Boss HM-2 so it was interesting to see that you didnt go for that sound.

Thanks alot! I really appreciate it. We are planing releasing the EP probably next week. :)

Well we used kinda basic settings. Don´t really remember exactly but just our normal rehersal-settings. The only thing we changed was that we lowerd the pre-gain at about 1.8 and boosted alot thru the tube-screamer insted. But the two different cabs were the biggest thing. And gave us alot to use.

Yeah well, we all kinda like the Boss HM-2 sound to. But we felt like we didn´t really want to go down that road with this EP. Maybe we´ll give it a try when we record our full length later this summer.

Sounds pretty sick! Are the drums all real? My ears say kick is fake + blended snare?

Thanks dude! Kick is all real. Snare is blended 17% sample and 83% real I think. So no big samples going on. But I tought the snare needed A LITTLE bit of help in the mix.

Yeah I really try to stay away from samples as much as possible these days. Having a great drum kit, well tuned drums and a hard hiting drummer (me in this case hehe..) then it´s usally no problem :)
