I have been using my V-Amp Pro exclusively now for about 4 years. During that time, I've been confused, irritated, and disappointed by the difference between the monitored sound and the recorded sound. Last night, completely by accident, I armed two tracks for guitar instead of one and solved the problem. I have been recording only the "dry" (aka minimal effects, no cab sim, etc.) signal for 4 years.

Ahem.

FOUR YEARS.

I'm sharing this because by all rights, guys should show up at my house and confiscate all my gear on account of my utter uselessness, and because I figure you guys could use a laugh.

here's hoping you didnt go ballistic and break shit... esp nothing valuable. i know i'd be tempted if i was in your place

Hahahahaha, that's like the tale of the woman on tech support being told she should put the computer back in the box cuz she's too stupid to use it  Better late than never! :D

well I had similiar "fuck" discovery when I discovered what the orange speaker (input monitoring) did in Cubase... I had used Cubase for 3 years prior to that and I even was a trainee in a studio with Cubase during that time.

I love this quote cause that shows how it's possible to do great things without even knowing everything of our DAWs. I consider I know only 25% of the possibilities of my DAWs...

I like this thread cause I also ALWAYS thought my Vox simu amp sounded like shit in direct recording... But now, since I'm on this forum, I know its because it bypasses the cab and so it's simply the sound after the preamp... I would just have had to put a cab sim after and that would have sounded so cool...
