My latest mix/master - too metal? :(

Let me first say that all credit for this song goes to kernalxsanders. He tracked all the instruments and wrote the entire song.

I just asked him if I could have a shot at mixing and mastering it.
So here's my attempt.

Let me know what you think?
Where could I improve? I am really struggling with the kick sound. Any suggestions?

It's a very metal sounding mix for a very un-metal song. The track itself is cool but I think it would sound better if it were more raw and live feeling. It seems like the drums are too compressed and these particular drum samples don't seem to fit very well to this style of music, in my opinion. I also think the guitars could use a little less gain and possibly a warmer tone. Also, is the bass a pitch-shifted guitar? It sounds kind a bit odd. I mean, the mix itself is ok, just maybe not the right mix for this track.

to anyone else who reads this, please help out both Ganks and myself! take a look at my thread on this song with my own mix, i have yet to get any responses! and yes, Scottrosia, the bass its just a pitch shifted guitar, seeing the bass i use has faulty wiring at the moment.
