So I've recently taken it upon my self to GET BETTER AT MIXING AND RECORDING in general. :)

I've been practicing different mixing techniques, as well as mastering techniques.

Here are 2 masters:

Master # 1 - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2798302/TESTING MASTERS/INTRO-TEST-1.mp3 (May be possible clipping on this one. Excuse it.)

Master # 2 - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2798302/TESTING MASTERS/INTRO-TEST-2.mp3

Tell me which one you like better.

Btw, one version is completely presets: The guitar tone, the mastering chain, etc.

One version is my own: I dialed in the guitar tone, and I mastered it by ear.

Thanks guys, and critique the mix as usual!

i prefer number 2.. everything seems to fit more in that one.

however, number 1.. the guitars are really loud, its clipping and the lead is really buried :(

what is the master chain?

Dude, number 2 blows number 1 away. The guitar tone is better and it sits better in the mix. The guitars have nice character to them as well. The bass, I think, could improve a bit though and make the guitars sound bigger. Right now they work, but its not a very ripping tone, and while it fills in the lows, it sounds very bland, especially by itself. I think it would benefit from a more sub low type thing if it fits in your mix and some distortion and more presence. The strings on the bass are probably pretty old I'm guessing too. I'd be curious to see how that changes the mix and accents the guitars. Good job on the mix:headbang:.

Cheers,
George.
