My NEW Amp and Cab

you son of a ............

This is what every dude needs for the real sound!!!!!!

respect man,

in hiphop and rap is it the lowrider and the gold around your neck,

in metal is it the amp and the watt;)

great, i guess you won't be disappointed. but too bad you didn't order the krank cab to go with your head.

Thanks for the replies guys. It was expensive and I have spent the last year researching, reading reviews, listening to samples/opinions (i was reading this board for many months before I posted), etc... so it wasn't entered into lightly. I can't afford to throw money around like that so I hope I have made the right decision.

I had tried the Krankenstein twice now in a couple of different Cab's (to see the vast difference a cab makes, Crate, Line6, Krank Rev and Mesa). I had tried the Revolution and preferred its sound. Yesterday I A/B'd the Revolution/Krankenstein into the Krank Revolution Cab and Mesa Traditional and I preferred the Revolution into the Mesa. The Krank cab was nice and tight, but sounded too mid-scooped and fizzier compared to the Mesa (to my nOOb ears anyway). The Mesa just gave some more punch (is the best way I could describe it) and was smoother. The Revolution head sounded fuller and less buzzy to my ears. The Krankenstein sounded thinner and grainier. Don't get me wrong I am not bagging the Krank Cab and Krankenstein, it's just the Rev and Mesa sounded better to me, probably a bit more versatile as well. As far as samples, I am waiting for a THD Hotplate to arrive next week so it will be less offensive to record at home. I put my 57 in front yesterday and recorded a nice clean sample (but that's not what anybody wants to hear:rolleyes: ). You just have to have it too loud to get a saturated tone so I am hoping the hotplate will help out (don't worry I am not going to record it with -16dB attenuation, just quieten it a bit). I will be having a jam next weekend (probably just me and my mate on drums) so I might throw a mic on it then without the hotplate. FarBeyondMetal the head was $3100 and Poidaobi the Mesa Traditional was $2200. I know this is expensive, but I have spent the last couple of years trying to get a nice tube-like tone out of modellers (GT-8 and GNX3000 which came much closer than the GT-8 due to the Warp feature) coupled with solid-state amps and wasn't happy. My wife told me that this was to be my last gear purchase so I went big.

Well there's my mini review, once again thanks for all the replies and advice. Now I can practice some more instead of tweak tone.:kickass:

hope you're diggin it man

i didn't care much for the revo that i tried, but i only got to play it with the matching cab...however the chadwick thru a marshall gb cab sounded killer

i've been looking into getting a mesa 2x12 for sometime now, decided on this instead...i've got a hellatone 60 (essentially a broken in v30) and 60L (broken in v30 w/higher wattage and more low end, like the mode 4 cab uses)

haven't tried it for recording yet, but it sounds absolutely killer

Nice rig. I too prefer the Rev 1 to the krankenstein.

don't count on it anytime soon :)

if you want i can bring it down for you to check out when you look @ that 5150 tho

Sweet rig, dude. Dare I say, that the Revolution is kinda "cute" looking.

I'm surprised everyone is all for Krank here because they are slandered all over Harmony Central. I've personally tried the Krankenstein and didn't dig it at all, but even you said you prefered the Revo to the 'stein. When can we expect clips?

Daniel
