My new Line 6 Spider Valve 112 is...

I dont know if all this talk of the tone sucking is directed at me or not....Im not bothered i do like my tone!

I personaly think you guys are alittle anal when it comes to Line6 stuff...Do you seriously think a head that costs £500/600 is gonna sound like a high end amp? I personaly never bought my spider valve because is the best amp evrrrrrrr , I got it cuz its pretty convincing tone and it has 4 chanels so thats alot of tonal options in a live setting....imo very handy

Wyllie, your reasoning for why you bought the head are spot on. Until you're playing support slots to massive touring acts with decent sound engineers (Dunno if you are or not..), whatever you put through the PA at a small show will sound like shit anyway, and the SV gives a load of good options for cleans and stuff, without having to buy a head an loads of pedals. I'm gonna get a SpiderValve or a Krank Rev Jr to gig with, as they're both cheap, and will both 'do the trick', as it were. I don't need a 120w 6505 when I'm playing infront of 25 people!!

That being said, I agree with Oz's statement about buying a Valveking... apart from the fact that he said they don't have great tone... WRONG!

You know, you make a damn good point Wyllie - forget the Valveking, if I wanted a good tube head at that price I'd get a used 5150 (or use my JSX), but that's not the issue; rather, the fact that the SV sounds almost as good AND has four channels that can each be programmed with exact volume levels, effects, amp settings, etc.; well, it's essentially having an amp, rack FX, and MIDI switcher unit all in one inexpensive head! I might have to get one of these, instead of using my Podxt and Hafler power amp as I was originally planning...
