my next amplifier last call

Hmm, i thought everyone loved powerballs except for me...

for the JSX sound also check Despised Icons The Ills of Modern Man CD. Sounds killer, tho it also has to do with the guy who mixed it.

both cd sucks to me
still thinking black tide stuff is a great cd but think is not entirely peavey jsk only

Another vote against the Powerball. I've never been totally happy with it. It's too gainy and compressed to hit as hard as most of the amps it's competing against, and it's just kind of a boring sounding amp in general.

Haha, not one person asked about what style you want to achieve with it. If you are after Death Metal tones, go the Powerball. Those who say mudball, don't know how to dial one in! Engl not only make 1 version, but 2! Those engineers know what they are doing at Engl, and I must say, that they didn't set out to make a muddy amp and then give it a 2nd cousin! The PB is saturated and compressed, really good for DM. Now, if ya playing the new age stuff, then yaeh, try the JSX, or even the XXX for that matter. But as everyone says here, it's all in the fingers! Dime, Loomis etc would still sound awesome on both. So if DM is ya thing, go with the PB, if melodic metal or metalcore, or anything like that is your thing, then go the PV. But please, try out both. Erik Rutan has favoured his PB for 7 odd years now, and he gets better tones than most around here (for DM) and thats what put me on to trying one of these things in the 1st place. Loved it. Even the 2nd version was great for that all out saturation and thickness. Can you make it cut? Of course, just like any amp! I still don't understand all the hate for this amp. Marty Friedman uses it to great potential, and I would say he is a damn fine muso, and a very good ear to boot!

From what I've heard Engl released a second revision of the Powerball because the first one didn't live up to expectations. I've heard great things about the Powerball 2, but everybody seems to hate the first one.

is the jsx far from a 5150 or a 6550

now hte peavey is on 700 euro for me
good price?

The JSX is based on the XXX. The XXX was always aimed at being slightly similar to the Recto sound, a "poor man's Recto," if you will. The JSX is warmer though, like how usually a Recto sound is considered kind of scooped, the JSX is more like a 5150 in that respect.
