My PP5 wishlist/idea list.

Stratovarius and Royal Hunt are at the top of my list. We gotta get them here! Two other greats who never play the states are Grave Digger and Running Wild. Yes I know they are not prog but power metal though its something the festival could benefit from if it featured a little more of. Dream Evil and or Firewind, Hammerfall. Also I would love to see Edguy and Gamma Ray return. Rhapsody, Demons and Wizards, Thunderstone.

In no particular order...

Rhapsody

Dark Moor

Dragonforce

Sonata Arctica

Grave Digger

Elvenking

oddball picks:

Moonsorrow

Vintersorg

Borknagar

kamelot - for u who havent heard them...go to their site at www.kamelot.com for samples...they're really great!

sonata arctica - man these finnish guys are great!

rhapsody - great power metal...

edguy - just fantastic

freedom call - great band with superb meaningful texts

My first choice! Of course we heard of them, they were one of the Headliners at ProgPower 2;)

sonata arctica - man these finnish guys are great!

Yes, my second choice! Kamelotica Kamelot and Sonata Arctica;)

rhapsody - great power metal...

edguy - just fantastic

freedom call - great band with superb meaningful texts
Would be nice to see Stratovarius with whoever the new singer is!!

I think that Paragon Should get the chance to play for the North American PP audience. They have been around a while, they have technically 6 albums woth of material, they are energetic and AWESOME LIVE, and they deserve some exposure over here. Grave Digger would also be great, some classic teutonic power metal. Running wild might be ok, but I saw there set at wacken this past summer and was disappionted with thier set. It was very slow and boring, they barely play any fast songs anymore, too bad cause they have some good ones. I was disappionted because Running Wild is one of my top fav bands.

The Devin Townsend Band
I had mentally ruled them out since they've been doing a bit of touring in the States of late -- although NOT in Atlanta, sadly -- but it'd be cool to have them back.

I have to wonder if Devy, whose relationship with 'prog' had been tenuous at best, might have built some bridges after his previous PPUSA performance. He's slated to appear on the forthcoming Ayreon CD, along with James Labrie of DT (err, the -other- DT) and Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth, among others...and Ayreon is pretty much the epitome of prog. :D

Adagio
Liquid Tension Experiment (RESSSURRRECCCCTTTEEEDDDD FROOOM THE GRAVE)
Symphony X (dont care if they already played, PP V would be another excuse to drive rediculously far to see them live)
Iced Earth - Just cuz
Ayreon - PleasE?
Stratovarius
Children of Bodom
Dark Tranquillity
Derek Sherinian
Into Eternity

I'd love to see:

Children of Bodom
Adagio
Sonata Arctica
Kotipelto
EDGUY
Pain of Salvation
Angra

Howabout Racer X too? I know they aren't really super powermetal but you could kinda fit them into that description.

My pick would have to be (too long of a post, so maybe some picks are invalid...)

1. Kamelot
2. Avantasia
3. Blind Guardian
4. Children of Bodom
5. Iced Earth

I know a lot of people want to see them at ProgPower, but are they really a *metal* band? everything I've heard of theirs sounds like prog rock to me...
