Finally getting somewhere! Started to work with the acoustics, a buy a little gear every month, So within a few years I think this place will be pretty sweet. I also have a little room that I will record vocals and amps. Next purchase will be a 5150 and a couple of sm57's. I'm thinking of selling my grandmother in order to raise a few bucks to gear.

I kinda like it. Seems like a good little roost.

What does it look like opposite the desk? How big is that room? What treatments (other than the acoustic foam in the pics) have you done?

It's a very small room, didn't have more room in my house. I have not done anything with the opposite side yet. There's a big carpet on the floor. There will be some diffusors and stuff but for the moment I only use it to write music and record my ideas.

Yes the foams are where they should be, I didn't place them myself... If I had they would probably be in the wrong place LOL

Well, I don't know about the foam but the monitors are too close to the back wall, imo. And, yes, foam behind the monitors is a very good idea.

How far of you is the back wall??? you must build a diffuser for that wall..... What material was used for the room walls? maybe is a better choice a diffuser behind your pc screen than the foam.....

Better than the foam is the "mineral wool", the absortion coefficient is better, but that foam look amazing ;)

And finally, move the studio monitors from the wall.... they are too close to the wall..... and remember the equilateral triangle rule... it's important for a good stereo image and a correct bass diffusion

cheers!!

Fuck yeah I would've (and did, 3 years ago!), the Pod kicks ass for convenience and low-volume stuff - still though, I find it funny that most people get nice gear first and then a nice room, and you went the opposite way! Room looks beautiful though, dude, so you're off to a good start (and you got the much harder part out of the way!)

I have moved the studio monitors, kind of sloppy placement before. And there will be diffusors on the back wall :Smokin:

I will say, I wouldn't have bought a POD.

Why not? The Pod is fuckin tasty when it comes to trying out stuff. If I get an idea in my head I just record it, doesn't take many seconds to switch between sounds... clean, rhythm, lead. That's what I use it for. Would never use it to record an album though. Thats kind of why my next piece of gear will be a 5150 and a bunch of SM57´s.

I know, I guess I'm not normal like most people lol. Well I've had better guitargear over the years, different amps and all kinds of guitars when playing in different bands. Then I've been stupid enough to sell the stuff haha:goggly:
