First of all i do know it might not be worth making a new thread to discuss the new album, but the intention behind is to get as much distance as possible to the seemingly forever ongoing thread evolving into a totally unappreciable direction.

Take this more as a very personal sight - avoiding interpretation by all means-on the development of an artists.

The burning and unsecure heart working on Hedniskjärtad grew up to a full scale musican with Ödemarkens Son (including the Otyg sideproject being a really unforgettable piece of art thanks to Vintersorg and Cia Hedmark).

Cosmic Genesis (I would call it part 1 of this trilogy now) was the first step away from the vast bound to grim and beautiful nature- our mother but still just a crying baby in the cosmic embrace.

The Spiral Generator (the predesessor) has indeed been an even further step forward focusing solely on the look from "above". At this point i myself noticed an enormously step forward both concerning artictical maturity and the artist´s personality itself.

The Focusing Blur- leaving "premature comments" (warning: this is irony pointing at my header i would have loved to keep out but couldnt resist sorry)- is now the latest and part 3 in this story and maybe if you are still reading the reason why you do so.
We all agree i think it is no fingerfood and if it was we would be whining like mad so yes, our all appreciations should be met on first sight ?
No not that easily and i must confess i already had the third look into it already so i am on the safe side postulating it is nothing but another big step of a nowadays full settled musician being lucky enough not to search for inspiration but trying to scope with the input he gets from outside.

Just one last personal comment if you alow me to remark- i am teaching Astronomy at the local university for about 4 years now and i am more than proud this subject is having a forum here.
Best regards,
Gerald

Or as the people @ the Close-Up forum has written about The Focusing Blur:
"Så dålig att det gör ont.
Killen har just lärt sig beräkna omkretsen på en cirkel och känner sig nödgad att skriva en skiva om det. Heja."

Haha

hehehehehe.....well, some can't understand the beauty of actually having lyrics that goes beyond Babes and Booze....and what's wrong with being pretentious....the whole 70's rock era was all about that!!!!

Couldn't agree more. Although I don't mind lyrics about death/monsters/Satan/gore/darkness/killedbyablackmetalguy there's good to know that there are lyricists such as Mr. V and his comrades... But my favourite lyric-writers has to be Trickster G. (Garm) and that guy from In The Woods... (Botteri something...)

My favorite "musical poets" are: Fish ( ex Marillion),Van Morrison,Dave Cousins (from "The Strawbs", and yep he often write about girls + booze, but I just like it ) and (agree with Djofull) Martin Walkyier (when hes not writing about his girlfriend).

I also like quite much Blue Oyster Cult's lyric..its not intellectual nor psychological but its very smart and ironical

I wish some of my teachers at college know Vintersorg :).I will take classes about rationality in 20th century's music, this year so maybe I could lend the teacher some Vintersorg cd :headbang:
