"Mystery producer remixes Death Magnetic"

very well done - does this mean that the stems are now ripped and circulating? i've had a lot of difficulty finding any (including for previously released tracks, such as the black album one that the drums were sampled from)

Any chance of a rapidsahre or mediafire link pm or something ? I cant use t*rrents here. It gets blocked

I'd love to hear the new mix. Im still stuck listening to the cd (although i dont know if its me getting used to it or what) but it doesnt sound as bad to me now as it first did when i got it.

No guys. It's this new CD media technology. These newer CD's require a break in time to let all the bits loosen up a little and the sound gets warmer. Damn, I should post that over at gearslutz just to see what happens. LOL

Smart asses :p

You know what i meant. When I first stuck in the cd i was amazed how it could sound so bad. I couldnt really get past the sound quality. Maybe im just used to it now, but when i stick it in now, i still think its bad but not as bad as i first thought. Sure I can still hear clipping etc...but i guess im just not as focused on that anymore. Its still a bit annoying but doesnt ruin the whole thing for me now like it did when i first put the disc in.

That, or else one of things mentioned above :p

To bad this mystery mixer can't make the vocals sound like pre black album vocals. mmmmm.....ride the lightning......tasty:

"Death in the air
Strapped in the electric chair
This cant be happening to me

Who made you God to say
Ill take your life from you!"

God I miss that.

i wonder why they don't sound the same? do you sound the same as you did nearly 25 years ago? hmmm........

do you think that in ear monitors have affected James vocal performance live? I've been having this debate with a couple of other singers I work with and I think people tend to sing softer with them in. Its only a question he could answer I guess but I'm interested on what you guys think and if any of you use them.

Interesting point. I personally find it a bit odd to talk when I'm wearing earplugs, and even worse if you're at the pub and you have to scream in peoples' ears to make THEM hear something, while at the same time your own strange (and i.e. real) voice is extremely loud in your head. In James' case though I think it has more to do with some vocal coach or something. Listen to his singing on the recordings from the black album tour, especially on "Nothing Else Matters" which could really make you cringe... I think he was pushing more before, which also made him pretty off on many occasions, while now he plays it more safe, hits the notes better but sounds as interesting as a scone without butter.
