Naberus Drum Tracking (Sexy Sonor video/pic content)

Next time around I might go for 421s on all the toms. There are 4 in the studio, so it should cover most kits, and they always seem to pre-eq them in a pleasant way. Especially if they are larger toms.

Coolest part about the MD421 IMO, aside from sounding fucking awesome, is that the transients are generally really well defined compared to other microphones. Every track I edit that was done with an MD421 is a piece of cake - most others see me editing toms based off transients in the overhead/adjacent tom tracks.

Yeah TBH the SM57 tom tracks are very well defined for this project too. I run into maybe 2 fills per song, where the toms are a little bit ambiguous, but the rest have very pronounced transients.

The coated heads really help in that regard. They cut sustain a lot and as a result leave a very pronounced attack.

Sadly realized that the Ride track on this project is so distorted it's unusable. I thought I fixed it by swapping channels/leads in the studio, but turns out the desk has even more issues, and I'm still finding the true extent of them. Irritating.
