Having owned the old one 10 years ago i missed my old friend.

Got it for half price, one year old.

I`m in the middle of buying a VGS evertune guitar, thought i might hit two birds with one stone when the VGS arrives.

I am contemplating getting the Bareknuckle Black Hawk Pickup for the VGS, does anyone know if it`s any good?

Have in mind that i`m an 8 year EMG player looking to go back to passives.

Then the Duncan Distortion should be near the top of your pickups to try IMO! (doesn't work too well in some guitars though, like any other pup I guess)

I have owned these two pseudo actives.

Duncan Distortion.
Dimarzio D Activator.


I know we wont ever get a passive that sounds like an active, im a tube amp head, thats why i dont have a Kemper/Axe-fx.

So i know pure emg 81 tone is only possible with a 81.

But im turning down the speed off my stuff and going heavier, hence the recto.

But i still like tighness and quick string attack "like" the 81.


Let me make it clear, i will not get another 81, just asking for alternatives that wont scare me off when i install them.

Congratz on the Recto! I just watched a video of my old band playing live like 10 years ago with provided backline and I used the Triple and it sounds fucking brootal even on shitty camera mic from the crowd, no boost, etc. Me wants one.

Wow the Bareknuckles ( black hawks ) sound good, that clean sound is awesome! I just dont like his style and low tuning, im more of an 80/90`s thrash guy.

BTW, the clean channel/setting on these new multiwatt rectos are insane! So much of an upgrade, might not even need a jc-120 anymore



I think i will order those Black hawk pickups.

The new ones ARE better, clearer, punchier, just overall an improvement.


The triple makes for an excellent bass head aswell.

I said i was gonna get the soulmaster guitar from vgs like the one in the youtube link in this thread.

That one i cancelled in the last minute and got a PRO series VGS guitar for the same price

It should be here Wednesday, so i will make the sound test with this and the recto in the weekend.

Is there anyone in here with experience in either the evertune or the VGS pro series guitars?
