I want some recommendations here. I have a $20 gift card to the movies, sitting on my dresser collecting dust. Theatres produce such dogshit movies; they dont make em like they used to. Anyway, Ill start:

Blow-Up (Antonioni)
Story Of A Junkie (TROMA)
Das Experiment (Giordano)
Trainspotting
 
Fight Club, Snatch, Lock stock, the usual suspects, anything by tarantino is worth having, Shogun Assassin, bad taste and braindead bby pete jackson...

You know what you should get? Curb your Enthusiasm. Larry David must be the contemporary that I admire the most after Varg Vikernes. Otherwise Seinfeld is out on DVD now.

1. Jackie Brown was utter shit. by far tarantino's worst film.
2. Seen shogun assasin. good call.
3. Ive heard of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Im going to make another trip to the bookstore, mayhaps Ill check that one out.
 
for italian "horror" movies, an awsome one is Cannibal Holocauste!!! its sick as fuck.

anyway yeah, Snatch is awsome, Jackie Brown is indeed for me one of the worst Tarantino movies, Reservoir Doggs and Pulp Fiction are the pure fucking awsome classics. also, Usual Suspects, 12 Monkeys is cool, and i like the 13th Warrior cause the vikings are cool in that movie :p
and the grand of the grand classic : The Godfather trilogy!

also i heard this french horror movie featuring the Belgian actress Cecile de France is actually comming out in the states. in french its called Haute Tension, i dont know what they'll call it in english. it features a guy's head stuck in a staircase and decapitated by a piano, the classic chainsaw stuff and axe in torso, and in bonus : an unexpected ending. i love that movie but some people thought it was too cliché.. which is the purpose of it.. oh well.
 
Ive seen a few italian film like Rats and Momma Roma. life is beautiful was so depressing. I had no idea man bites dog was belgian, and no idea cannibal holocaust was italian. Ive heard of haute tension, can you give me a rating?


TheLast, i'd like an extensive list of italian horror, stat.

edit: bookstore i was referring to is a coffe/music/movies/bookstore.
 
Yeah if you liked Cannibal Holocaust, you should watch Jungle Holocaust. There so many. I really enjoy great black/white classics like the day the earth stood still, day the earth caught fire,... you can also check "brotherhood of the wolf" ... great french movie. I also watched "city of god" brasilian movie about gang life in the favelas in Rio, that too was a great movie.
 
I've seen some italian movies, including Cannibal holocaust, but I can't really remember the names of the other ones. They were quite amusing though.

And other gangster movies worth having are:
Goodfellas
Scarface
Casino
Donnie Brasco

and then some other things: The Office, Tom Green show, Annie Hall, Seinfeld,office space, The Pantera videos on DVD, The Sopranos, casablanca
 
Man Bites Dog, Blow-Up are good ones, if you haven't seen City of God (Brazilian film about drugs, gangs, and life in the slums) WATCH IT! One of the best films I've seen in a long time, incredible narrative, editing, really an accomplishment. A few other good ones, by country are:

Japan- Battle Royale, or any of Takeshi Kitano's early ones like Boiling Point or Violent Cop.

Australia: Walkabout, Chopper (fucking classic)

New Zealand: Once Were Warriors (Fucking Jake the Muss and crates of Double Brown!)

Russia: Burnt by the Sun

I could go on and on but I won't, I was originally a film major before I got fed up with pretentious art fags and changed to History
 
oh yeah Memento is an awsome movie! how could i forget.

i heard Battle Royale was cool too but i didnt see it... i might rent it out from my local video shop.

also whats the name of that Austrian movie? its about two young men who are totally fucked up (they act premature and weird) and they go from one house to the other, they fuck around with the owners and eventually attach them and kill them. and the killers talk to the camera sometimes and all. at a moment one of them gets shot so the other guy rewinds the movie to start again so his buddy doesnt die. its a fucking weird movie.. but awsome.
