I hope its about something really exiting and i also hope its not a cheesy move intended to distract from the whole Wikileaks subject.

Many people are going crazy thinking they are going to revail info about contact with et and shit, i dont think so.

here is some info about it but we need to wait till tomorrow.

"Keith's note: Multiple, reliable sources within the Astrobiology community tell me that NASA's Astrobiology announcement tomorrow concerns Arsenic-based biochemistry and the implications for the origin of life on Earth, how it may have happened more than once on our planet, and the implications for life arising elsewhere in the universe. NASA has not found life on any other world.

That said, as a biologist, I have to say that this is exciting stuff. It shows that other biochemistries are possible - more than just "life as we know it" and that the possible places where "life" could exist in the universe are now much more numerous as a result. What other biochemistries are possible? I am certain we'll be hearing much more about this."

Rumors I've heard could have to deal with possible bacteria on Saturn's moon Titan. I have a feeling it will have more to do with a new method of using some sort of spectral analysis to determine if arsenic-based life forms using some sort of photosynthesis exist on a given planet than a discovery of the bacteria themselves.

If this does turn out to be about arsenic replacing phosphorous then it seems to me to be a real big deal. I can't wait to hear this.

Science's biggest barriers, historically, have been assumptions such as the sun revolving around earth and life requiring the same 6 elements: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur.

Hopefully this discovery will inspire people to think outside the box on other mysteries like dark matter. Maybe gravity does not work the same way all the time?

I feel another black plague coming on or some scary man-made disease. Playing "god" with test tubes is some scary shit. Why can't aliens just show themselves already and say, "we put your dumbasses here"

My only concern in with the entire article is how do they know this isnt just some form of genetic mutation. It may not have always been this way which is why they are just discovering it now. I just love how science immediately adopts shit out of convenience, and then 2 years late go .... oh we made a mistake.

I have lost all faith in organized religion and science.

Thats the beauty of science though; something is only true until someone else comes up with a new, improved or contrasting theory for the way something operates.

It's not static and thats really what makes it a really more viable way for looking at things than religion which still languishes in a millennia of prescribed dogma.

Whether it's a mutation or not is irrelevant.
The fact that it exists is what's important.
And yes, in two years time they may alter their conclusion.
That's the beauty of it

Oh I agree, its just that science is starting to get a lot like organized religion. "Lets see how much of this shit we can throw in your face till you believe it"

Physical and scientific proof are getting negated more and more with their own discoveries. In the 60,70's and 80's Black holes were these massive life enders, and now all the sudden some guy who came up with a theory is trying to prove that maybe they are life creators. We have 9 planets in our solar system, No WAIT! 10, No wait 9 again Pluto who has been for 50 years doesn't count anymore ..... lol

I understand there is always new evidence to be found, and I understand that research will always be taking place, BUT DON'T PUT SHIT IN THE TEXT BOOKS TILL YOU ARE 100% SURE THIS IS HOW IT IS!

EDIT: I also want to say I am not a religion advocate, as far as I am concerned the bible is a bedtime story for morons ...lol

Well dude, it's learning. The "how" more than "why", if that makes sense. When I look at it that way, then we are teaching rather than proselytizing. (in a religious sense)

Science is nothing like religion, nor it will ever be. There's no absolute truth in science, and everybody know that.
