Nazi dinners in Asia

Where ya heard about this Mussolini love?
You know that most of us (italian people) hated and hate mussolini, right?
Of course there's always been the extreme right wing over here, but not as much as abroad.
Personally I hate Mussolini, my grandfather hated him even more because of that asshole he almost died in WWII.

I saw a documentary based on a book that was just released by a Swiss historian:

The title says: "Viva Mussolini! - The revaluation of fascism in Italy under Berlusconi"

It basically focuses on how Berlusconi and his party are revising history to make Mussolini and the ideology/cult attached to him socially acceptable again to gain votes from the extreme right wing and to make room to push their agendas.

Now don't mistake this with populist Michael Moore journalism. This author tackles this "hot" issue with an empiric soberness you wouldn't expect from a popular scientific book.

He shows how Berlusconi and his party are incorporating more and more "Duce" imagery and symbolism. How former members of extreme right wing parties are getting important positions in his party, the media and even the government (Gianfranco Fini etc.). How formerly banned extremist youth organizations are turned into Berlusconi's own youth organizations etc.

The success of that iPhone app is just one example of many how the "Duce-cult" has become more and more socially acceptable again.

I'm not saying that the majority of Italians are affectionate to the the extreme right wing and I think it's great that you and your family are passionately opposing them.

But there's more than enough factual evidence for Berlusconi and his henchmen revising history and trying to make the extreme right wing socially acceptable again.

Maybe this is even more evident to outside viewers as large parts of Italy's media are controlled or at least influenced by him, inhibiting critical discourse.
