I have a pretty good understanding of the bands with "essential" albums from the genre, but I am not sure on the actual albums. If you could point out the best albums from the following bands, it would be greatly appreciated. I realize favorite albums is a rather subjective issue, but I am hoping there is some sort of consensus...

Also, if there is a band missing from the list, feel free to make a recommendation for a specific album by that band. Keep in mind this is only the ESSENTIALS for a newbie, though. Many thanks!

Trouble
Candlemass
Count Raven
Pentagram
Pagan Altar
Revelation
Cathedral
Solitude Aeturnus

Trouble - Psalm 9, The Skull
Candlemass - EDM, Nightfall, Tales Of Creation
Count Raven - Storm Warning
Pentagram - S/T (AKA Relentless), Day Of Reckoning
Pagan Altar - Volume 1
Revelation - Salvation's Answer, Never Comes Silence
Cathedral - The Carnival Bizarre, Forest Of Equilibrium
Solitude Aeturnus - Into The Depths Of Sorrow, Beyond The Crimson Horizon, Through The Darkest Hour

For the absolutely essential I'd add....

Saint Vitus - S/T
Reverend Bizarre - In The Rectory
Warning - Watching From A Distance
The Obsessed - S/T

For Candlemass add Ancient Dreams
Count Raven add Destruction Of The Void
Pentagram add Be Forewarned and the First Daze compilations
Pagan Altar all of their albums
Cathedral add The Ethereal Mirror
Saint Vitus add Born Too Late and V
The Obsessed all of their albums
Reverend Bizarre add Harbinger Of Doom

Also for classics definitely add Solstice, Iron Man, Unorthodox, Penance, Blood Farmers, Internal Void etc etc

And for more contemporary bands check out Mirror Of Deception, Orodruin, The Gates Of Slumber, Hour Of 13, The Lamp Of Thoth, Altar Of Oblivion, Minotauri (RIP), Ogre, Pale Divine, The River, Seamount, Fall Of The Idols, Apostle Of Solitude
