Seymour Duncan JB's should do you in. They're awesome passive pickups. Think LOG tone but pre-wrath.

JB in basswood would be overly loose sounding and have to much pronounced mid's, doubt that would sound any good.

You're right. I'm using it a mahogany body and forgot at the time of posting that he was using basswood.
