Need some ears to help me out with this mix. Can't seem to get reverb levels right on the drums, without them sounding dry or taking over the whole track. Listening back to it I think the snare might be a bit too loud. Also, what do you think of the bass? I'm thinking I might need to re-process it, the grit/grind doesn't seem to stand out enough in the mix.

Edit: newest mix

Thanks in advance guys!

Drums could use a bit more room sound or verb, not a lot but a little. The toms need the most work in my opinion, they really sound boomy and could use some taming. They tend to take over the mix in certain parts. Bass could use some work as well to make it gel a little better. I think you got your head around all the problems though and your not far from a great mix. Can't wait to hear this when it's done!

Thanks Joshua, I appreciate that! Should I high pass the toms higher, or should I high pass the reverb to eliminate the boominess? I totally suck at bass tones at the moment, and this mix is using a (very decent) programmed bass, SR5 Rock Bass. Any tips for a good gritty tone? I was using the method in Ermz' guide with the DI and distorted bass track mixed together, maybe I printed it with too much of the DI and not enough grit...

I think the guitars takes too much space, they overpower everything. But this might be just a taste thing, I've thought the same on earlier mixes OP has posted.

Yeah I guess it's a taste thing. I always dug mixes with loud guitars, but I do try to balance it out. Here's a new mix- I added more verb to the drums, still unsure about whether the bass needs to be redone, as in changing the settings on the ampeg svx...
