So i have just got tired of the way my DIs are sounding with my firepod, so tonight im planing on ordering a DI box, well i honestly do not know much about DI box's or what the best one i could get is, but everyone i have talked to has told me it will help out a ton.

I'm just looking for somethings thats going to greatly improve my DI tracks.
at this moment i have a bunch of other stuff to get so i cant just upgrade my interface right now, which i am in a couple months, just need something for right now.

^ Thats actually the exact one I have ... I'm not gonna pretend to be an expert on DI boxes but I've had nothing but good results using that one

Your specific needs may be a little different but thats a solid DI box. As for the passive/active thing, I'd wait for a couple other more knowledgeable people to answer in here 1st ... it'll help you narrow down your choice or at least what you should be looking for

you could always get it from GC, try it for a few days and if you're not happy with the results, send it back to swap out for a different one

thats what i normally do whenever im shopping for new gear, thats the best thing about guitar center honestly lol, i would go there and talk to guys, but i always feel like non of them are any help with information at all, or its just not good advice, all about making a sale they will say anything.

just as long as its going to make my DI's turn out better than my firepod pres ill be happy.

Countryman DI boxes are great as well.

I use the type 10 which is the super fancy one that is supposed to overcome the slight phase inaccuracies that DI boxes have. Whether that actually affects guitar DIs audibly I don't know, but the cleanliness of the signal from the type 10 is mind blowingly perfect. I paid $220 for mine.

I got it from here(drop shipped):

The page on their site(price on there is retail):

The standard model by them is the type 85 ($150):

Go for the radial man
J48(active) or JDI(passive) are in a good price,i have an even more expensive one(radial JDI DUPLEX MK4)because im obsessed with DI tracks and reamping and i really need that.
its also really related with your pickups.
i prefer passive DI boxes because there is no electricity so the sound is not colorised, but you might like that,it's a matter of taste:devil:

Repeat after me:
There is nothing wrong with the Hi-Z input on the Firepod.

Greatly ?
Try another guitar, improve your playing technique.

I may sound harsh here, but honestly:
If your Firepod DIs sound bad, it is most probably not Firepods fault.

i prefer passive DI boxes because there is no electricity so the sound is not colorised

Wrong because:

a) passive boxes have a transformer, that DOES color the sound. Active DI boxes don't have a transformer, they have a preamplifier
b) there is always electricity going thru electronic components and mic cables, but not necessarily phantom power

As for the passive/active thing, I'd wait for a couple other more knowledgeable people to answer in here 1st ...

Get an active box if possible.

haha man no just no lol.
i have a EC1000 and a horizon im pretty sure my guitar are not the problem, also i record bands weekly i think i know if the DIs could be better,i have used other interfaces in the past and have got far far far better DI tracks.

the firepod DI's are not horrible, but they lack a clean and clear signal to me.
also every band i record i make track super tight.

if you can not hear the difference in the firepod and a higher end interface or preamp then idk what to tell you because i sure as hell can.

You are still going to be running through the firepod's preamps and converters so its not going to solve your problem if you really think the firepod is the problem. Just get some new strings.

You cannot bypass the firepod preamps.

I never said that i don't :)

You said:
"So i have just got tired of the way my DIs are sounding with my firepod"

And i know for sure that it IS possible to get great results with a Firepod.

You also wanted something that would "greatly" improve the sound, there is no such thing.
