Need suggestion/insight!

Looking to get a decent preamp, I'm currently using Reaper as of now, LL Redeye, M-Audio Prophile 2496, and was wondering which options I should take:


Keep Reaper and get: DMP3 or SP VB1 Preamps

Get Mbox with Pro Tools, ditch reaper


Are the preamps of the DMP3 and VB1 marginally better than the Mbox? If thats the case, would it be better to upgrade to pro-tools with stock plugs and lower grade preamp? Or keep reaper and get a better pre?

Reaper > PT (cuz it can run VST's)
DMP3 and/or VTB1 > Mbox2 preamps

Get yourself a Firewire PCI (or PCMCIA if your on a laptop) card and a firewire interface (Presonus Firebox, or Mackie Onyx Satellite if you're on a budget, its only sacrifice is that it only has two simultaneous inputs)

Cool thanks. Does it make an extreme amount of difference in how much i spend or what brand of firewire card I get?

Somewhat, yeah, but as long as you get one with a TI chipset you should be golden!
