First off, I'd like to say hi to everyone from ultimate metal, especially you guys from andy sneap's forum for giving so much advices and tricks on recording I am forever gratefull!
(BOW DOWN)
lol

Here's the deal.

I have a small recording setup I use for my band's pre-pro and stuff.

But I want to start recording local bands to gain experience and so that maybe one day i can do that professionally.

Here's what I got:

Softwares-plugins:
Nuendo 3
Waves mercury
izotope ozone
guitar rig (probably gonna get pod farm or start to reamp)
aptrigga
drumkit from hell
battery3
kontakt
massive
autotune

Hardware:
KRK 6'' SE speakers
audio-technica 3035 (clean vocals)
500 gig lacie external hardrive
m-audio firewire studio

I work in a music store here so i can borrow or rent some cool stuff.

Like a SHURE SM7 for the metal-hardcore vocals.
and an audient mico for pre and convert

SETUP FOR DRUMS:

I was thinking to get an AUDIENT MICO w 2 pres and put the overheads in it
and then go spdif into my firewire solo, and then into nuendo 3

ANd then for the shell kit:

Buying an alesis trigger i o
Putting ddrum triggers on all the shell kit into the alesis trigger i o and
Buying steven slate platinum and use it with apptrigga to get my sounds.

For the bass:
Probably a tech21 sansamp bass driver.
or thinking about getting that uad-1 with bass preflex, heard good stuff on it.

Let me know what you guys think! :headbang:
Is it a decent way to achieve good sounding drums?
also should i wait on that ssd platinum and get the trigger fron steven slate and all the new shit thats comming out?

Are you working at Steve's or Italmélodie? Been there a few times.

If not, then please tell the store, I don't live there but I'm always glad to visit new places. :)

For teh drumz... SSD FWIR is better for augmenting, while SD2 is better for raw sounds to customize to fit your mix, a bit like real drums.

I think Superior 2 with the free samples from here would do a better mix if you worked hard at it than SSD, IMHO. The room mics on it are awesome.

Nice gear dude:headbang:

hahaha no i am not rich lolll
im not a spoiled kid!!!

for the hardware stuff, i got everything off ebay, used prices :)

thats why i want to trigger the drums except overheads,
because i cant afford getting 2 sm57, a kick mic, and senheisers for the toms,
plus a 8 input pre soundcard like presonus or something

"thats why I am thinking about buying ssd platinum, because i cannot find it on the internet"

yeah i work at steves music store, not in recording section though,
but they give me lots of tips :) im always there annoying them asking tons of questions about plugins hahaha
like that sonic core transient designer I just heard of yesterday.

what is ssd fwir?

I can't lie, I "acquired" Waves Mercury and all that shit. I'm only 16 though! How could I ever afford this shit? I would consider paying for something worth the money though, like SSD

anyways, i did not post this to talk about my plugins but mostly to ask if the way i intend recording drums is decent.

So why post list?:loco:

Edit: start to read here
Great stuff about drum recording but sorry to say this, if you need gear advice you are in wrong subforum

Just to chime in on the 'pirating' discussion - just use free plugins and get better at tracking and mixing, you don't need expensive plugins. They're just an investment for when you think you really need to drop some extra cash, kinda like buying a Mercedes.

^^^ +1

I've been using the Antress Modern plugs, and they sound so good! I don't really use my cracked shit too much, maybe one of the eq's that I got but everything else is free, like TSE X30, Kefir, 7170, Antress and all that shit, its as good as the expensive stuff :D
