Hey,

At the end of a song, the 4 rhythm guitars are fading out on the last chord and I'd like to apply a tape stop effect on them after a few seconds. I first tried by selecting the part I wanted to process but the effect is very drastic and the volume doesn't match with the unprocessed part. Then I tried again by selecting the whole chord but of course the effect affects the tracks from the selection and like I said I want to keep the guitars unprocessed for a few seconds. As it's an AU plugin, I cannot automate it (or I don't know how to do it!)

Any tip?

Make your selection longer than it needs to be. Experiment with it until you get the sound you want

That sucks man. Not sure what else I can say to help with the issue other than offer what I do to get the results. I do it in reaper, if you right click on a track > take > pitch, then it will show a pitch automation line, and I adjust it manually to get the desired curve. I mainly use Protools and I cannot get results this good with it. Always do pitch automation to the DI and then Reamp, or it will most likely sound weird.

Hope you gain something from this and best of luck!

I tried both but doesn't sound right. I didn't find anything on the web about that.

what doesn't sound right? If you're still concerned about the volume difference just apply some gain to the processed region after to match it to whats previous.Making the selection longer plus doing this should give you what you're after unless there is something else you're trying to get out of it

Well, the volume is not the main problem as it can be fixed quite easily. But whatever the region I select, the effect comes at one go. I just want a real vibrato effect from 0% to 100%. When I'll be at home, I'll record an example. Thanks guys for the replies.

I'm guessing you don't actually need the audio itself to be slower, you just want it to gradually drop in pitch. Just automate the amount of pitch change at like a 25° angle down from the start of the section to the end where you want it. You could probably also use Elastic Audio to stretch the length of the part if you need it to be longer for the effect to be more dramatic or to stay within the time frame you have in mind
