Hi,

I am thinking of buying a new "mid price" vocal mic for my home/project studio.
My local shop recommends either a SE 4400A or Neumann TLM 102 in the price range I am looking for and I wonder if anyone here have used either or both of these mics.

The vocalist (apart from myself) that will use the mic for tracking (probably for at least two records in the near future) sounds like this:

I do quite alot demo singing myself and have a quite similar voice to the singer in our band, except for the high notes...that I can not reach:), so I think that a mic suiting him will also be good for me.

Singing session for the first album is planned for this Thursday, which is why I have limited myself to mics on stock on my local store, but also other recommendations of mic´s in price range up to appr. USD 1000 are very welcome.

Preamp used for tracking is TC Konnekt 6

I would seriously check out the AKG C414 XLS which is a very neutral and full sounding microphone if you plan to buy a microphone in that price range. It has pretty much everything you'll ever need (9 different pickup patterns and variable high-pass filter and pad settings) and sounds great on vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, piano, strings and pretty much everything else. Also The Neumann TLM 102 sounds quite nice. You can find a few quality clips on YouTube to get an idea of it's sound.
