I find it funny that all you do is complain.

BEHOLD! REBIRTH IS WISE FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT; HE KNOWS WHAT HE'S NOT TALKING ABOUT; HE HAS A GOOD SENSE OF CHRISTIANITY; HE READS THE SUNDAY PAPER. THEREFORE, IF YOU READ A REVIEW IT SHOULD TELL YOU WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE THING IT'S REVIEWING, OR ELSE WHAT'S THE POINT OF READING HOW GOOD IT IS, IF, SINCE IT IS BEING SOLD, IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD? THAT'S WHY JESUS TOLD THE PARABLE OF THE TURTLE IN THE GLASS OVERLOOKING ELMESMERE ISLAND WHERE THE POLAR BEARS PLAY HOCKEY WITH BASKETBALLS. THUS, IT IS NOT SIMPLY A MATTER OF GREAT IMPORTANCE, IT IS ALSO LIKE A TREE GROWING SIDEWAYS OUT OF A CONCRETE BUNKER DESIGNED DURING THE COLD WAR AGAINST NUCLEAR FAMILIES.

God exalted Herbert to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father of latter day saints and apostles. Amen.

Quess what its a slag, onthe band...

I was listening to the 2003 release, its not bad its 7/10, i was saying to myself that its a different cd...to all the rest...i don't think it should be compared at all to any of the other releases, the solos are so differnet. i could oonly detect on my radar, one pattern that i had heard before...but mostly it sounds like styx in 1978 with elton john singing when he had hair...
IT COULD BE A CLASSIC CD, inthe future, THE BRAZILIAN KIDS WILL GO NUTS ONTHIS SHIT...GOOD SHIT I MEAN

Hmm...the first bad review that I have heard for this cd. Interesting. I can't really say anything else, because I haven't heard it. *sigh*

I agree, what's up with all these people wanting Nevermore to do ballads all the time? DHIADW is by far my least favorite album. EoR is quickly becoming my favorite.

I won't shoot the messenger, here, 'cause it's not your fault this person has a substandard review, here.

What's interesting is that Captain Paragraph (Chris Dick) speaks of murky production, a lack of dynamics and refers to the songs as average. This coming from a solid paragraph review, speaking in generalities with limited references to REAL things he likes or doesn't.

Personally, it sounds like someone got ahold of one of the Euro-released promos with admitted production issues. It also sounds like someone was ticked because the band moved in a direction they wanted to instead of the direction HE wanted them to go, which is to say, more thrash, less ballady-mid-tempo-DHIADW-stuff. I am a sad clown for him.

I did like the quasi-diverse references to other bands he obviously felt did a better job in certain aspects, though. It shows that he's, you know, not limited in scope to what he listens to...

IMHO, all the stuff that was groused about, with the exception of the production, were things I thought were strengths. I'll also have to ask WD about being rendered "mute," since he came through on my recording loud and clear.

Bah. Hell with reviews. Remember, the media is currently in love with St. Anger....

Yeah really. What the hell is with critics? They're opinion is that DHIADW was the pinacle (sic?) of their carreer, and expected another DHIADW, but instead Nevermore went back to doing what they do best: good ol heavy thrash to kick your ass.

No, the songs are literally substandard, and heavy doesn't make it a better album. "Politics..." slays this, as does everything in their repertoire.

Furthermore, "St. Anger" has nothing to do with this review. I can't even listen to that pile of shite to even muster a review. Wise up, people. It's just an opinion, and from a fan's perspective I was 100 percent let down by this record. End of story.

I have to disagree. The EOR I listened to fits in very well. That's OK -- I'll agree to disagree...I can't make you like it any more than you can make me not like it.

Oh, but it DOES. People tend to trust reviews to discern their initial opinions going in on a purchase. That said, if I took your review at the same face value as the first five or six reviews of St. Anger (which stated such a profound return to the "old Metallica" that fans everywhere would be insane not to buy it), I would be rushing out to buy STAnger and not EOR. Well, that's not true, I'd be buying EOR, anyway, 'cause Nevermore has yet to let me down. At any rate, the result would be my cursing about STAnger and wondering why I didn't just buy EOR, instead. I would feel a tad duped by the reviewers and a little more than a tad ticked about where my money had gone.

Wise up, people. It's just an opinion, and from a fan's perspective I was 100 percent let down by this record. End of story.
No need to get all testy and defensive. It is, as you say, just an opinion, just as this was my (almost our) opinion. We haven't felt let down, from what I've been reading.

That's cool, though. I'll buy it. I guess I just get a little up tight about reviews. When I write mine (www.browneware.com/mt for a couple of missives about St. Anger), I try to figure out why I like or don't like it and share it with specific examples and stuff so that people can figure out if I'm cracked or not. I'm not out to convince anyone, though, because no one, here, has the same tastes as I do, just as I don't share the same tastes in music anyone else on the planet does...I'm me, and that's that.

Bah.

No, it's "They're [sic] opinion is that DHIADW was the pinacle [sic] of their [sic] carreer [sic], and expected another DHIADW, but instead Nevermore went back to doing what they [sic] do best: good ol [sic] heavy thrash to kick your ass."

onlt stand to listen to 3 songs only, it just dampens it down...
Maybe they want to leave the EOR as raw as possible, leaving the reverb to be heard on purpose.

I'm sorry for not rectifying my errors in the midst of my loquacious ramblings that my post may have become verbose and I put in a modicum of effort when it came time to checking it.
