NEVERWORLDRelease: Mar. 15. 2004 - Now And ThenThe 2nd effort from british melodic power metal act POWER QUEST. Guitarist Sam Totman left the band due to his DRAGONFORCE commitment and he is now replaced by an italian young axeman Andrea Martongelli who also plays for ARTHEMIS together with the singer Alessio.
This time, the band shows their much catchier songwritings and it gives quite different images from what the guys did on their first CD. Some songs still keep their double-bass kickings and fast guitar works, but as a whole this album has a major hard rock/pop atmosphere and I couldn't help myself from reminding of VAN HALEN when I heard the keyboard sound of track 3 and 6. Intro for track 9 has a kind of EUROPE taste. Every song has radio-friendly pop feelings and it's very good ear-warmer for a drive! Good point about this release is that I now can differ them musically from DRAGONFORCE quite easily and moreover I love this 80's hard rock style a lot! This is, say, a fast and catchy hard rock/pop album with quality performance.
To conclude, I have to add one thing: Sabine from EDENBRIDGE appears on track 9 as a guest singer and sings a duet with Alessio together. Very nice combination of 2 different voices. I like it very much ;)Reviewed by Masa @ 21st Century Metal Net

Power Quest - Neverworld
Finally here is it ... the Successor of 'Wings Of Forever', the CD I highly
recommended. And it is absolutely a worthy successor. With the great and
bombastic opener 'Neverworld (Power Quest Part II)' we see, that the band
must not hide from the great bands of the Power-Metal-Szene (Edguy,
Stratovarius and so on). On the contrary. If we compare Neverworld with the
new output of Edguy of the same week ('Hellfire Club') I will say, that
'Neverworld' is a class better than 'Hellfire Club'. After this
9-minute-smash follow hymn by hymn until Track 4 (Sacred Land), a song fast
like an arrow. We become a little breather with 'When I'm Gone', where
Arena-Keyboarder Clive Nolan added some parts. Threshold Guitarirst Karl
Groom ennobled the next song 'For Evermore' and after two more great songs
follows the last one, the 11 minute song 'Lost Without You', who may also
can be from a Threshold-CD (naturally with another voice) and is added with
the voice of Sabine Edelsbacher (from 'Edenbridge'). At least I can say,
that the sound of the CD (and this is no surprise) is brilliant made by
Carl Groom (and the Thin Ice Studios). A MUST HAVE for lovers of fast music.
