I have JJ 6L6GC in the power amp now, but they produce a bit too much low mids for my taste, I'd like to get more balanced tubes, Svetlana look like a good choice for this amp (Andy himself seems to use them), but I also found a website where they sell SED "close to Sylvania" 6L6 tubes, and Sylvania are said to be the original tubes found in the first 5150 generation (EVH block letters version). They are known to sound great if I'm not mistaken.

Look at this :

Any experiences with those tubes in 5150s ? Those SED look good but they are more pricey than the classic Svetlana ones.

You do NOT want the Svetlana 6L6GC. They are made by New Sensor..... You want the Winged C from the first link, the SED's... Those are the ones you will always hear people talking about...

They are a die hard tube, and the only ones I use anymore. I wouldn't think about buying anything else. A bit more expensive than other 6L6s, but well worth it. By the way, I run them hot as hell, yet they are lasting much longer than any other tubes I have used...

But, it's all down to personal taste :)

I'm a Tung-Sol guy when it comes to 12AX7s.... Once again, slightly higher price, but I don't get random microphonic duds like I did with JJ/Sovtek/EH

I'm not really a fan of Tung Sol 12AX7's - I did a reamped test awhile ago and found the Tung Sols to be ever so slightly harsher than the Shuguang 9th gen. 12AX7 I compared it to. Now I buy Penta Labs 12AX7's from Doug's Tubes, cuz they take the best of the Shuguang 9th gen. bunch and relabel 'em.
