New album Foregone out February 2023

I'd be fine to call TJR/Whoracle as traditional MDM and Colony/Clayman and beyond as modern MDM. At least that would make some distinction between how those albums sound.

as well as Wages of Sin and Rise of the Tyrant (I'd put a Johan-era album here, but I haven't listened to them in forever, and thus have no idea what they're like anymore).
Bro, the Johan albums are definitely MORE MDM and better. Worth listening to again soon.

I really wasn't looking forward to the new cycles of interviews where I either have to slog through it all and wait for someone else to extract the tiny bit of new infos from it. It was just the second time I heard that Anders thought people would be wiser after the pandemic, but blahblahblah, but I am already sick of it. I know it's the same with every band, but IF is among the few whom I still willing to listen to it in hopes of something juicy.

Somewhat related: do you know from the top of your head which (radio?) interview it was when Anders talked about each record in chronological order? I tried searching for it years ago to no avail, so I won't even try it now. Not that big of a loss, but it was one of those rare times when he was willing to talk about older stuff.

No, it was a video interview in like a radio station with Anders and like two hosts I think, Jesper was gone by now. But thanks, this article looks interesting as well.

A lot of times, the real problem are the questions, not the answers. A lot of journalists just don't have what it takes to make interesting interviews.

Yeah, it baffles me that the 10th person who gets to interview someone leads with the same questions. I get that part of the reason the interviewee is there is to promote the new material, so you can't just ignore it, but look at late night shows: they have a fun cinversation for a while and for the last quarter they talk about their new material and promo it to the fans, though it is hard to promo something without an actual release date.

On second thought, the main problem is not even asking too much about the new record, it's asking lame questions. Ask how it changed compared to ITM, or if there are weird songs on it (ie. Wallflower), or if there's gonna be a song for Anders' second cousin once removed. Anything which asks about some new information. Maybe even ask them about the dates (cough Hungary cough) they promised to reschedule but failed to do so yet.

Anyhow, let's see some AI alternative art for In Flames albums...

Lunar Strain:

Ah, the Lunar Herb. Very good.

Subterranean:

I mean it's better than the original artwork.

The Jester Race:

Er... point goes to the original artwork here.

Whoracle:

For some reason this is the only one that wasn't a picture of a Yacht.

Colony:

Sure, why not.

Clayman:

Horrifying.

Reroute to Remain:

A literal take.

STYE:

I quite like both of these.

To be continued...

ASOP:

Better than the original artwork, again.

SOAPF:

Yeah it just went completely literal with this one.

Siren Charms:

I can see it.

Battles:

upload_2022-8-17_19-22-19.png

I mean it fits the music just as well as the original artwork, although arguably Battles album artwork should have been like:

I, the Mask:

Fuck.

Check out Midjourney for AI generated art. It's pretty amazing. I did a Whoracle one and was pretty surprised by the results
