Bought a 6505 today. Had a play around for a couple of hours with it. Reamped one of my generic test riffs with it on both the Rhythm and Lead Channels. Also had a quick go at blending it with a Krank Rev example of the same riff I had recorded a few weeks ago. The 6505 is 100 L/R and Krank is 80 L/R. I chose a Krank recording that was recorded close to the centre of the dustcap, so it will not sound good on it's own. Anyway, here are some samples, please remember it's early days, but feel free to give me any tips on getting a better sound. The Files are:

Krank quad-tracked (meant to be that bright/fizzy)
6505 Rhythm quad-tracked
6505 Lead quad-tracked
6505 Rhythm and Krank (2-tracks each)
6505 Lead and Krank (2-tracks each)

6505 Settings were:
Lead -
Pre 3
Bass 8
Mid 2
Treb 5
Post 3
Res 10
Pres 9

Rhythm -
Pre 5
Bass 8
Mid 2
Treb 5
Post 3
Res 10
Pres 9

Mic was positioned at Edge of Dustcap, 1 inch away.

All guitar tracks have only had 70Hz Hi-pass and 12kHz Low-pass. MB has just some Comp and GClip, no EQ.

Feel free to leave some feedback, I would appreciate any tips.

Cheers :kickass:

carvedones - Thanks for the reply dude. :kickass:

Here's 2 more:

This was recorded on a different speaker in the cab, the one used for 99% of my posted WAV and mp3 files. This speaker has a little more fizz than the other with the mic in as close to the same spot as possible.

6505 Lead Channel, Gain on 2 out of 10 (same other settings as before):

6505 Lead and Krank:

congrats! I think the the clip with your favorite speaker, lowered gain on the lead channel is the best of those, better definition. sounds cool

Thanks for the reply X, appreciated. I am still trying to get the Monitor movement as in your clip of some time ago called "my_gas". That guitar is on in-your-face and makes my monitors pop.

I also like the newer clip with lower settings. (for the same reasons as X)
Still like the first clip also.

carvedones, kev and Machinated thanks for the replies.

I am loving this amp. I know I am not getting it's best sound to disk (my fault, not the amp's :heh:) but it's fun trying. Here's another Blend, this time Rhythm Channel and Krank.

Machinated, I tried your settings from the pic's you posted with Lead Gain at just below 1 (out of 10) and mic near the Centre and wow, what a tone. :headbang:

Anyway, this clip is that same mic position but on the Rhythm channel with Gain on 5 panned 100 L/R and Krank panned 80 L/R. There is a little EQ on this one. It's a different recycled sample of mine I made just after getting the Hellraiser. It's a dark/dry guitar. I really must record some more DI's . I like collecting gear more than actually playing nowadays. :erk:

Sorry for the clip bombardment, but I am like a kid on Christmas with this thing. :headbang:

IMO, that speaker is a lot better than the one you chose more recently. I like te two blends with this speaker the most. Great tones :headbang:

Cheers for the replies guys, appreciated.

Yeah this speaker is definitely better, most of you guys have heard/used WAV files from this speaker.

here is a sample of RAW guitars with the following settings:

Lead Channel (out of 10) -
Pre 1
Bass 8
Mid 3
Treb 4.5
Post 2
Res 10
Pres 8.5

The mic is about 10mm max off dead centre of the dustcap about 12mm away from the cloth. This gives me some speaker sizzle that sounds like amp Gain saturation. This is quad-tracked. Maxon 808 set with OD on MIN, Tone on 12 o'clock and Balance on 3 o'clock, so a clean boost, no added OD. It would sound better if it was a bit brighter, but it serves its purpose for showing what Pre gain on 1 sounds like:

Yes this earlier sample is Pre Gain on 2 and Post on 2 (just 6505 no blend):
6505 Lead Channel, Gain on 2 out of 10 (same other settings as before):

So far it seems like the 6505 and Krank blend nicely.

Thanks again for the replies.:kickass:
