New Amp Sim: LE456

Thanks LePou! Been a big fan of yours for a while now...always putting out great stuff.

Dandelium: You are the king of loud...always love your tone in the samples you put up.

I posted a riff I recorded with this amp sim earlier in the 'Rate my mix' section. Still trying to find the right sound but I'm pretty dang close. My favorite amp sim now, by far!

For fun:

Engl Powerball E645 vs. Lepou LE456 :)

http://koti.mbnet.fi/juhau/englbath-eaten.mp3

Try and guess which one is the real one and which one is the simulation :P

Edit:
Oh yeah, and I set the Lepou version to the exact same settings as the real one, and then lowered the treble by 2 steps on the plugin, since it was far more trebley than the real thing - probably due to different preamp tubes used in the emulation modelling.

FINALLY!!!!!
A freeware amp sim emu of an ENGL.

Ahem, there has been a free Fireball emulation for a loooong time :D It has been mentioned in this forum too umpteen times ;)

I'd guess the second half is the amp sim :O

It's actually the Powerball and LE456 switching between each other all the time :)

Rough times:

0:03 - 0:09 = Powerball
0:09 - 0:16 = LE456
0:16 - 0:22 = Powerball
0:22 - 0:29 = LE456

The main differences I hear are:

1) The LE456 has slightly shorter decay time
2) The Powerball has a bit more mids
3) The LE456 has a bit more treble than the real Powerball

These are of course when comparing to using the exact same settings on both. I'm sure with just a little bit of tweaking they'll sound identical. You can especially hear the decay difference on the first high note of the riff. Both use the same (quad) DI tracks, so it's not a difference in playing.

Oh and the settings (0 - 10):

Lo Lead
Gain 3,5
Bass 3
Mid-Focused 10
Treble 6,5 (real), 4,5 (sim)
Bottom off
Presence & Depth Punch 5 (real), Contour 5 (sim)

Torniojaws, I'm very surprised (in a good way) of your results. You know, I build my amp sim using schematics and when I started this project I used the schematics I had in hand and man the first version sounded so bad you can't imagine. So, I end up tweaking values of caps and resistors here and there trying to get a tone similar to what I could find on youtube, especially these ones:

Thanks for comparison clip.

Of cource he COULD, but he made it different on purpose.
I'm more than happy with the job he has done.
You don't like the skin ?

after hearing this AWESOME amp sim
im counting the minutes till you release the leCto :kickass:

Ok, I got to try this some more. Here's a VERY RAW mix of a cover I am recording (I didn't record the verse yet, but there's some guitars on the bridge and chorus): http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/1643345/... Source (drums + bass+ guitars) 30 treble.mp3

(2 tracks, L/R, recabinet impulses of a Mesa boogie cabinet with mics placed on the edge)
Here's the original song:

I think I am liking this a little more, but I still think the gain control is not very effective (unless that's the way the real amp works)

Concerning the skin. I like it but I think 2 things could make it better:
1) Having numbers on the knobs
2) double-clicking a knob resets it to 12 o'clock

Really? I never knew that... And I was a strong devotee to Dirthead until the ABG Metal Heads came out. :D
