Ok, so I don't know anything about bass pups, but I want to upgrade my humble rig, which currently consists of a DeArmond Pilot V and....well thats it, I just DI it through the Redeye. I looking for a fairly budget solution, max £100/pair. I was set on the Dimarzio Model J, but then I found out it only came in 4-string..... so any suggestions? At the mo the low B and High E are less pronounced than the other 3-strings, which tends to suggest DeArmond cheaped out on the pups.
The bass has an active preamp so I'm wary of looking at Active pups too, I don't know whether they would play well together.
Criteria is: Decent Low end, for a Stoner vibe as I plan on picking up one of those new Bass Big Muffs that have been getting awesome reviews.
