New CD Purchases

Huh? New Tori Amos.. didn't know that, will check...

Anyway, I pre ordered TOC via an UK online shop( normally I use Napalm records from Austria).

I've been meaning to get the new Orphaned land, Rotting christ and maybe Ihsahn, but procrastinatinon and bad economy are to blame. I'll make an order of 5-10 Cds in the middle or late part of the year.

I have a large Cd collection and feel obliged to buy most of the must have/killer releases.

only time I buy CDs now is when I'm in an actual CD store and find some oldschool shit I really like or just generally something I dig in the bargain bins.

I love the ritual of digging through crates for hours, spent most of my free time and money in high school and college doing that.

never really ordered CDs online unless it was necessary, like an import or something.

but most CD stores blow here. While I was back in the U.S. I went down to Vintage Vinyls (you jersey/phili peeps know mos def) and I got really lucky, scored Digital Ruin - Listen, Conception - Flow, Superior - Behind (all OOP prog classics) and a Behold...the arctopus/orthelm split all for 16 bucks!

The old record store that I used to love as a kid and went out of business when I was about 20 just appeared on facebook. The owner of the store made a group called "Bubble Records Memories" or something like that. It's awesome, has a bunch of old pics of the store and people posting stories about their experiences at that place. bubble Records was the shit. I got my very first Nevermore shirt there. It was a European tour shirt with Euro dates on the back and the cover of the first album on the front. Rad shirt. Rad store. I miss small indie record stores.

my first nevermore t was also from the s/t and it was a long sleeve, but I can't remember what was on the back.

I need to scan pictures of my pudgy shaven face with warrel and jim wearing that shirt in like 2000 :)

My two most beloved record stores:

The big daddy, Amoeba Music

and the great Aquarius Records - Valencia and 19th, check out their site

As they like to put it "we'll always be here with our ears to the ground, and with cds full of metalcore pitbulls, death metal parrots, gamelan playing elephants, recordings of glaciers cracking, ice melting, zamboni's, life support systems, drag races, audience applause, and of course self flagellating Norwegian dwarves, moaning telephone wires, recorded exorcisms, acapella straight edge metalcore, high school battles of the bands, movie theater organ music, Christian psychedelic folk, Bhangra Black Sabbath as well as all the metal, indie rock, electronica, punk rock, reggae, dub, sixties psych, krautrock, classic rock, country and anything else your heart may desire."
