New Celtic Frost album cover

I disagree.

And why precisely is that? Because Celtic Frost is so ingeniusly as to hide many things within an album cover? Do you even know the source of the artwork? For all I know it's another painting like To Mega Therion and Into The Pandemonium.

dude its just a simple cover....I just noticed little things that were on it thats all but I believe the new album as a certain theme to it....this is what Martain Ain bass player for CF as stated so far about the cover....

"So, the speculation has commenced.
I like the way this thread is going, it is very much in the vain of what we hoped to be able to evoke with just a face. But let me try to explain a couple of things about the artwork.
As so often before, the artwork was created along with the music. Inspiring the music & vice versa.
What you see here is just a layout of a cover.
A layout of a face on a cover.
There will be a body to follow this face.
A body of artwork so to speak.
We plan on releasing "Monotheist" in three different formats. The artwork to each will be different in parts, but stemming from the same "body of work".
You won't have to buy all three formats to get the entire picture, but then again, some art just looks & works better on an gatefold double vinyl cover!
More will be revealed in due time.

Thank you very much for your input.
Through your fervour this endeavour will become what it is.

Ich Allein Bin Mein
Martin Eric Ain "

These guys don't get a band that writes enveloping everything from the packaging to even the font used.

Sad to see this is the culture of the downloaders that only cares for the music, and not what is behind it, as the artist intended.

If the artist put that much work into the art, then who is anyone to say otherwise?

Celtic Frost has always been about the art. Here's some more more on that:
http://hrgiger.com/music/celtic.htm
It's enough to get a spot on the HR Giger website.

What I meant was that Celtic Frost never had any significant artwork previously that was also original. Their use of Giger's artwork for both To Mega Therion and Into The Pandemonium were more afterthoughts than any form of pre-planning, regardless of how lofty your love for the band might be. Also, please refrain from such vast assumptions about people's musical tendencies simply because you frequent a Celtic Frost message board. That does not give you any signification whatsoever.

It certainly gives no signification, whatsoever. I do not use a message board for my signification...

It does make us right, however, and we do receive the info from the source.

And the art were afterthoughts? You are ridiculously misinformed. It's fine, because you don't care for them. Why care for them so much now, regardless if it's negative?

In both cases that I mentioned, the band received permission to use the artworks after the entirety of the album was completed.

The albums were written with the artwork in mind, while waiting on permission.

Duh.

This album was written with the custom artwork in mind, as well as being inspired by the TMT cover once again in the CF Bunker.

That's blatantly untrue. At least for Into The Pandemonium it is. In the case of To Mega Therion, the artwork was one of many options; they did not have any particular in mind. Either way, it really doesn't fucking make a difference. The artwork is at best supplementary to the music and is completely separable from the experience. Totally arbitrary. Why don't we discuss the song titles instead?

this guy is basically saying the album will suck before even listening to it!

hahahaha

I hope to the lord that you're not referring to me. That would be an enormous leap in logic.

who fucking cares anymore!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait listen to new CF album!!!

tomorrow I'm gonna try to pick up the new DevinTownsend album.I just hope the store has it stock!!! I hate ordering over internet...

...and then a graceful contrast like morning sunlight through thousand-year old ruins

Most of this review, however, was much more plebeian than I had expected. Is prozak losing his elite intellectual skills of wordplay and metaphor?

as for the samples...i'd rather wait to hear the album in it's entirety tbh, but i was tempted.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that it's a good review, though I still think the line I quoted is incredibly pretentious and reminds me of his "glory" days. He has improved a great deal in clarity though, I'll give him that.
