Hello!! :D

first version:http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/425433/05.mp3
second version:http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/425433/05v2.mp3
final version!:http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/425433/05v3.mp3

While you listen to it I'll tell you all how did I do this:

Drums
S2.0 Overheads and Room mics
Machine Head kick (my usual kick)
Behindert's snare blended with S2.0 Black Beauty.

Bass
Harley Benton HBB500TBK thru POD Farm.

Guitar
Caparison Horus YS (EMG 81/SA/SA)
Rythm: SoloC plugin thru Alu's Framus 4x12 + Post
Clean: POD Farm + Post
Crunch: SoloC + Pod Farm + Recabinet Ghandi el34 4060.wav + Post

Keys
EWQLSO Silver for the pianos.
EWQLSO Gold for the orchestras.

Everything mixed and mastered in Reaper v2.56.

I'm making some lyrics and vocal lines for our band's debut demo, to start sending something complete to labels, webzines, radios and stuff.
Do you think this song fits a 4 song demo?

Thanks for listening, and I hope someone comments anything!!

Best wishes.

Wow....that was sick :headbang:

That should definitely be on any album/EP/Demo you happen to release. I personally thought it was amazing.

I'm not sure if your looking for any production opinions, but the guitars were a little too hollow sounding for me.

That's just me griping though, I thought it was awesome.

I'm not so in to the first half of the song it's kinda to slow and hrmm pink floydish sounding? then the second half when the guitars kick in and it reminds me of dimmu borgir I like.... it would be more awsome if the whole song was like the second half....

mm, Actually I liked the other ones more. It must have a really impressive vocal line to pump the song up, otherwise its just average :p

PS: still great fan of the project ;-)

Nice song. I think you did a pretty good job with the synths.
I liked the first part of the song more (before the rhythm guitars kicked in).

The rhythm guitar tone on the other hand wasn't that impressive. I'm not sure how to describe it...thin maybe? It just doesn't sit well in the mix...

I only recall listening to one other of your songs...the one with the "na na na" lyrics ;). I think this is just as good so why not use it in your demo too. Of course hearing it with vocals would help to judge better.

I wholeheartedly disagree. The first half was epic.

But yeah, I'd agree that the rhythm gits aren't quite sitting right, I feel they're a bit overpowered by the sheer presence of the strings at some points.

I think the intro is beautiful personally, very In Flames with those harmonized acoustics, but MAN do they sound harsh, I gotta say :erk: And when the RH guitars kick in they're too low in the mix and too thin IMO, also a bit harsh; you should give one of my impulses a try ;) But yeah, I dig it musically, though the mix could still use some work IMO! Honestly the whole thing kinda sounds like it's coming through a radio...

This sounds great, but I didn't hear a song, more of a soundtrack type thing. I didn't like the lead guitar at the beginning. It's thin, you should double it. The rhythm guitars are a little too thin and this may be the impulse's fault to be honest.

Hey guys, thank you so much for the answers ;)

First all, a big thank you to all who liked the song and shared thoughts.

About guitars being thin, yeah, i just used now the new Ryan's Impulses and everything sounds nicer to my ears!

About the song structure, the thing I like most in this song is that starts very melodic and ends very epic and dark, like intergrating most of the elements you can find in any of my songs. I'll keep the song structure as it is right now ;)

@ Marcus: Thanks for the analysis, I already noticed some of that radio effect, but thought it was really subtle! I've changed mastering chain to solve it. Also EQed the cleans to sound less harsh ;)
@ Brian: Yes sir! http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/425433/kick.rar

Again a very good piece of music, and yes, sometimes it reminds Dimmu Burguer.
I want to listen to it with vox, Spain has the most awful and horrible metal singers out of whole galaxy and other parallel universes. So be careful about that.
You said you're gonna send it to record labels. 10 years ago my all-life band VALHALLA had offers from those days best spanish metal labels, such as Avispa, Zero, Goimusic...
All were good words and good intentions, but you know that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. In Goimusic we even had to contract a attorney/barrister.
Send your CD to labels abroad or do it yourself and work with a distributor.

Hey Jevil, thank you very much for your answer.
I've never been fond with the actual Spanish metal scene. Well, it actually sucks as you may know. We don't have the typical Spanish power metal guy, but a girl. Also she doesn't sing lyrically as most melodic metal singers. Her voice makes me remind of Theater of Tragedy, Leave's Eyes or something in between. Apart from that, the music is not even close to them, as it's closer to "Dimmu Borgir meets [Insert melodic death metal band here]".

Talking about labels... I'm actually mixing/mastering a couple projects for Xtreem Music, and I know because of my clients they SUCK (musicians have to pay EVERYTHING). Never worked with Goimusic, Avispa or any other goddamn label, but also never heard any good things from them.

Again, thanks to anyone for your replies!!

PS: Any other suggestion to improve the sound of v2?

Best regards.
