New: ENGL Gigmaster 15

Doesn't look like this is gonna be one for us to be honest. From the video there he says "it's sounding very bluesy" and on the video on the Engl site there's "and you can see how it's not a heavy metal amp"

Gutted, a high gain mini Engl would have been sweet!

No it IS definitely a high gain amp!!!

First of all listen closer and he actually says "you can see how it's not JUST a metal amp"... It's actually voiced more like the fireball than the thunder but will be a cross between the screamer and the fireball in sound and versatility.

I actually messaged ENGL around 12 months back and gave them the idea to make one and gave them suggestions and it turned out pretty much like spot on to what I and many others wanted!

Can't wait to get one! The Krank Jr amps were shit way too noisy and harsh! Believe me I have tried every lower wattage tube head! The Tiny Terror and the Koch Studiotone are the only good mini tube amps at 15-20 watts that do a good high gain metal sound... Now we have a 3rd!!

You will not be disappointed by this amp ...So buy this amp! You know you want to o_O The Studiotone will still be a slightly nicer sounding amp but it's 3 x the price and the Gig Master will have that trademark brutality that is known as ENGL all within a nice compact package!

Can't wait!! :headbang:

If it can get that much gain with a strat, I definitely think it could bring the br00talz well. In any case, this is far and away the most impressive demo I've heard for an amp in the size/price class. ENGL does it again!

Hi guys -

Just a quick post to let you know Engl just started shipping these and we have both the head and combo version on the way in. They should be arriving in about a week. Not trying to be a spammer on my first post and I normally take the time to introduce myself on a new forum but I know there's some interest in these amps and I'm pretty sure we're receiving some of the first available in the country. Please get in touch with me if you're interested in details!

buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuullshit!

my rev jr. does get a little grainy on the top end, but a TS in front smooths it out. noise is not an issue, however.

The Revs are some of the quietest high-gain amps I've ever heard. There was more than one occasion when I didn't even notice that my NS-2 in the loop was off.

I got my little Engl combo today - and will return it immediately.

The above posted video captures the sound very well. And I have to say that I'm a little disappointed - I thought of a little Fire-/Powerball for practising at home but to my mind at least in high gain the Engl gig master 15 isn't the holy grail. The distortion seems somehow artifial/sterile to me.

At the moment I stick to metal amp room (which simulates the Engl Powerball), it sounds significantly better that the gig master.

Just my 2 cent of course

EDIT: Just made up

@WichitaFalls_Axe, doesn't sound bad at all. Thanks a lot for the video. I was thinking getting the head but for 100$ (or so) more I can get a 6505!

Price seems a steep for what you're getting, same for the Tiny Terror as well.

Wonder if it will sell well in this economy?
