I am just recently discovering Novembers Doom and I have to say you kick ass. :worship: I visit other band forums here and had no idea that you guys were here... Anyway, I have a question for the fans here and am even more interested to see the band member responses.

- If you had to recommend only one Novembers Doom album to a person who had not heard you, or was just discovering you, which would it be? Any particular reason?

well, the latest of corse! I think it is always good to get a bering of what a bands current sound is, then explore into their older stuff, after INRI i would go with The pale haunt departure, since it seems to be every one's favorite!

Hard to choose 1, as they are all different in their own way.

If I have to pick one that best represents the band today, I would say start with The Pale Haunt Departure or Into Night's Requiem Infernal.

Oh, and welcome!!! Where are you located?

Definitely TPHD. It represents their current sound well, and it is one of the better metal albums of the decade. A true classic in every way. Once you know the story behind the lyrics (get The Wayfaring Chronicles), it gives the album even more meaning.

Yes, I love this album almost like it was one of my children :)

I live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

I ask the question because I find sometimes when I try to get people into new bands, the first song or album that they are exposed to plays a big role in determining whether they like it or not. I always be sure to give them the best possible stuff first!

Hey Merloch, Welcome to the forum.

I'd honestly say, you can't go wrong with any of the last 3. Into Night's Requiem Infernal, is a great place to start, as it's a nice combination of everything that is Novembers Doom. Between THe Novella Reservoir and The Pale Haunt Departure, if you like the darker, moodier side, The Pale Haunt Departure is it, and if you like the heavier, more aggressive side, then check out The Novella Reservoir.

Let us know what you pick up, and your thoughts!

Thanks. I will actually be picking up the whole discography but I only have INRI so far.

Yep, I concur with what Paul said, any of the last three cds would be the right place to start. If you have INRI then probably listen to Novella next, then Pale Haunt, and so forth. Just work your way backwards!

Powerslave or The Number of the Beast...oh...wait...wrong band.

To answer this question seriously though...working your way backwards is a great suggestion. This way you see where the band's at now, then you can go back and listen to how they got there. If you started at the beginning, you may be confused a little.

And while I'm on the subject of earlier material, Seasons of Frost came up on my Ipod the other day...no matter how many times I've heard it, the last lines always seem to give me chills.

The Last 3 albums are all really good for different reasons but Novella is what turned me onto the band so it will always be the first among equals in my book.

I love the fact that there is a Maiden / Priest fanatic in the band now!!!!!

UP THE IRONS!!!! \m/ \m/

Sasha, you also played on another CD too, ya know.... :)
