Well, not really my idea. I just bought the Pianist Pro app for my Dad's iPad because it came with this scale piano feature. This allows you to plug in any scale in any key and play them even if you don't know a thing about music or if you're not familiar with the traditional piano layout. This app is really cool since I'm one of those who knows a guitar really well but can't play a key board without spending forever trying to figure out where every note is.

This is what it looks like: http://moocowmusic.com/PianistPro/PPSmallScreen4.jpg

I've been trying to research it but I can't find a midi controller that acts in the same way. It even includes crazy scales like Mongolian and others. Is there anything out there like it? If not someone needs to get on that because I would totally buy one

Reaper has this by default. It´s a JS FX called "JS: IX/MIDI_KeySnap". You can also make your own scales to use with it.

I've been doing some research on this but I am having dificulty finding much. Could I use it to set all the white keys on my m audio oxygen to whatever scale I wanted it to be? Sorry for the noobish questions. I don't use reaper but I'm willing to put down the $40 if this is promising.

Yes. And you can download Reaper for free. The trial version has everything, including the JS plugins like the one I mentioned. You can set it to approximate ("snap") the note you played to the closer one on the scale you´ve chosen (or made), or you can simply turn off (filter) all the keys that aren´t on the scale (in this case these keys just won´t pass any midi data).

Awesome man, I appreciate it. Like I said I'm a complete noob when it comes to recording and I've been away from home for a while not so I'm going to try to learn a few things. Probably going to check out reaper for the first time. Do you mind if I send you a PM if it's not too much trouble?
