New Interview with Warrel (Sep 09)

Huh... Lake Norman...... Fuck I was bombing around there a couple times while they were recording. Good to hear a release date in January! And Warrel is right, it is beautiful country down yonder.

Warrel is to be praised for this quote

"this may sound funny because I’m a singer, but Nevermore is a guitar band. And we need a guitarist as a producer. That’s why Andy Sneap worked so well, that’s why Peter’s working so well, Neil Kernon (producer on the early Nevermore records) – he plays guitar as well. And I’ve always said that our main focus should be just vicious, brutal riffing. Vocals to me kinda seem like an afterthought. Obviously they’re a big part of it, but I’m a fan of guitar. I always have been. And I always want a wall of sound. That’s the best way to describe it."

this is precisely why nevermore is the best band in the fucking world. they KNOW what they're all about. no gay experimentation with shitty electronics and shit. keep it honest like this and you guys are destined for some serious fucking street cred in the metal world (not that you dont already have it). man that almost brought tears to my fucking eyes. what a humble fucking admission mr dane. respect.

good lord, you sound like a 15 y/o talking about manowar

Manowar are the fucking Kings of Metal! Hail the king! Death to false metal... and so forth...

Fuck Manowar, they make shitty metalhead music and any southside OG would run their "manly image" into the ground.

And about no "gay electronics"? That's exactly the reason Nevermore is great but can't reach levels of perfection like Arcturus or Borknagar. There needs to be electronics and/or keyboards on some of these songs, that's what's holding Nevermore back from being one of the best. Lars Nedland would be perfect.

With all that said I'm sure this will be a great album.

Oh and great interview. Nicely balanced questions, and some wonderful insights. I'm especially interested in the seemingly ineffable nature of this record. :)
