Here are my words to describe it: Pretty good, but soooooooooooo far from being anywhere near as good as LFDGD.
The new Katatonia is great. I've got this new album. Great Melodic metal with a progressive flavour.

It's too nu-metal, methinks. Some great choruses, but all of the chugga-chugga and "just don't give a shit" lyrics makes me think that this would have been top of the charts...2 years ago.

It's not nu metal, but it's fucking simplistic, and the lyrics are extremely juvenile, especially compared with other stuff they've done.

I tend to not care if the music is simplistic or complex...as long as the emotion is "properly" conveyed. For exemple, lots of Porcupine Tree is simplistic and lyrically extremely juvenile but sounds great. (ex. Hate Song, Feel so Low etc...)
i've heard a few songs off the new album and i think it's pretty cool, haven't heard much old Katatonia though so i don't know how it fits in their catalogue...

This album is amazing. It's an album i could hear over and over again and not get sick of it. Katatonia have outdone themselves again and it's a blessing to enjoy the music they create.
