Apple will be holding a big event next tuesday and the rumor goes that they'll release new macbooks. Most important upgrade will be a better, more powerfull GPU and a new look.

Apple needs to figure out a way to price competitively, they've fallen way behind again. They also should come out with a laptop with a numeric keypad on it, like the newer Dells.

it's strange how apple seems to be dropping favorite audio centric features with every new device ( TI firewire...firewire 400 ports)

seems like the best spec'd mac is a hackintosh

Yep... Lack of FW400 is bad news, without doubts.
And the only major deference in comparison with my MBP is the Graphics card and faster memory.
I don't regret that I bought it in April

I would have loved to have bought a macbook for travel (not really for music stuff), but without a firewire 400 that is really lame....and surprising

New macbook/pro are totally useless in my opinion..... no fw port in the macbook and only fw400 in the pro....no eSata...holy shit, what the fuck are they doin'?
